EV with ac motor?

Hello you there,
Just found this forum, another, I am looking for some information about re-winding an ac 3 phases motor. So i found this page and i have been supprise to see, or, it is looking that ac motors are not used very often in electric vehicule. I understand in bicycle but in car?
I'm not in EV at the moment but i had a project few years ago with a nephew, but we never pursue it, but always interested in learning and i dont understand why there is not more of them...

start a Vectrix photo alblum, and how to apply a photo.

I think we all need a spot to come to and share photos of our "CellPropelled FunFlyers"

I would start, it's just that I'm not very up on the how-to on getting the pics dragged over, or even knowing what is a URL to convert.

Still a fun idea...........

gear re-arranging to reduce noise........

I found a video on YouTube under vectrix, that shows some French gentlemen swapping around the gears to I believe make the whinning noise reduced. Take a look and watch the video, it's done well. It's just that they are speaking in French. Someone needs to watch it and translate seeing what they are doing, which I think worked on the gear sound. (still fun to watch).

POWER TAP!!

You know,...thinking about this, what if I went behind the head light to grab the higher amp circuit to backfeed outside power of 12v power into the system feeding at a low volt, but helping the amps for distance,...and maybe have a refreshing affect on helping the front first out cell that everyone keeps talking about that fails. I would think that I would have to go back before the switching at the feed of the 12v, so it will be not after the headlamp command.

New full-size folding electric bicycle introduced in USA

A new full-sized folding bike with a 36 volt Lithium Ion battery pack is available in the U.S. for the first time. Named the EW-475-Li, it was introduced in late March 2011 and is currently on sale at High 5 Scooters. See pictures below:

X-Treme introduced a comparable full-size folding bike with a 24 volt Lithium Ion battery pack in September, 2009, called the XB-310Li which was very well received but it has been out-of-stock on since March of this year and is not expected to be restocked until early June, 2011. The EW-475 has a larger battery pack than the XB-310Li (36 volt and 10 amps vs 24 volt and 8 amps for the XB-310Li) and uses the super-stable extremely long-life LiFePO4 battery chemistry.

The EW-475-Li has 26" wheels, folds in half and comes with folding pedals. It is powered by a state of the art 300 watt hub motor combined with the powerful 36 volt lithium battery. This bike has it all including both front and rear shocks, disc brakes and a lightweight aluminum frame. And it is built with all top of the line components. It weights a lightweight 52 lbs which includes bike, battery and motor.

The EW-475-Li has an independent full twist throttle -- in addition to the regular 'pedal assist' mode. So, you can pedal with a significant boost from the electric motor or not pedal at all. The bike has a top speed of 20 mph* and up to 25 miles per charge using the motor only. There are really three modes operation: (1) You can turn off the power and pedal this bike like any other bicycle; (2) You can turn on the power and receive a strong electric motor assist as you pedal (this is when you'll feel like superman or superwoman!); or (3) You can use the variable-speed twist-throttle the entire time - no pedaling required.

More specifications and pictures can be found at http://www.high5scooters.com/productinfo/ew475.htm

XYM hub motors on E-Bay

I ordered a 48v 1000W hub motor off of E-bay from Xym corp in china, It says this wheel motor is available in 24,26,28 inch wheels and also a choice of front or rear motor. I ordered the item off of E-bay and the order went through, but not once did E-bay ask what size wheel I want or front or rear. I want a rear wheel 26 inch. How do I know what I'm gonna get now?

Bleeding brakes for an ICE

Hey everyone now I know this is an EV forum but I had a question for an ICE that I just cannot pinpoint to get it right.I have tried websites like Alldata and Identifix. My technician and I have been working on our customers pick-up truck for like ever. We are doing a full round brake job for a 1993 Chevy K1500 4WD pickup.
It's a piece of crap im sorry. We installed the brakes front and rear, it also needed a new brake master cylinder. One of the worst things that I hate about brake jobs is bleeding the brakes, I freakin hate that!
