Mongoose 24 volt convert to 33 volt

I bought a Mongoose (made by currie) 24v with a brushed rear mounted motor from Walmart for $340. I am happy with it for what I paid for it. I figured I could sell it to a college student in this college town If I were unhappy. I changed the seat and made it a much more comfortable ride. It will out climb my trek 36 volt 12 amp bike with nimh batteries but the trek gets a a few more miles and has about 20 mph top end. I have access to 4 new dewalt M1 batteries and plan to rig them parallel to come up with 33 volts and and approximately 9 amps. I plan to use a setup much like Magudaman (thanks for the pics) illustrated in his pictures and leave the packs intact. Questions.
1. What are the chances that I will blow the 24 volt ananda 20 amp controller with the proposed setup?

2. What controller should I replace it with when it blows? Source, volts and amps please

3. Is 4 batteries in parallel the best way to rig the battery pack? If not, what is? If so, I plan to tie all the positives to one spot and all the negatives to one spot so as not to tie them to a common line where you add each one to the next one.)
4. Magudaman, where did you get that fine looking bag that your pack is in? (LOL)

5. What is the best type of connector to tie the 4 positives and 4 negatives to for a common out to controller wire?

Thanks for your interest and help....Boodydarn

Boodydarn,

I have good luck with the scooter controllers. ElectricScooterParts.com is a good place to get controllers. I have been using these type of controllers with great success for several years.

For tying these packs in parallel... for the power connectors just solder away. I did that and it works fine. For the charging connectors, there's some discussion here: a123 developer packs ... basically, they used special connectors, and one of the members of this site has a bunch of those connectors which he's selling. I've gotten some and they're rather small but should be straightforward to use. They let you use the standard dewalt charger.

On the controller, the standard controller might work okay depending on the capacity of the electrical parts.
