The GomiCycle

The GomiCycle electric motorcycle conversion using (mostly) scrap materials is a report on some people who converted a Honda Rebel 250 to electric drive. They used a PERM 132 motor @ 48 volts, and got parts from Electric Motorsport.

Really cool.

Video more or less shows that there ain't much too it once you get the motor, battery, and other component mounting figured out.

Re: The GomiCycle

Right ... though I think they shortchanged the vehicle a little by not modifying the frame to put a rectangular battery box where the motor used to sit. That would be a simple modification that would allow you to put all four batteries there rather than having two hanging on the rear end.

BTW the method they show for mounting the motor on the swing arm is the same as described in the El Chopper ET plans. It's important when selecting a frame to use this technique of mounting a motor on the swingarm, that the swingarm offer enough room between the wheel and frame to mount the motor.
