Does the Controller Have to be Isolated!

I am in the home stretch of completing my motorcycle conversion. When mounting the aluminum controller to my metal battery tray I got to thinking... does it need to be isolated somehow from the frame of the bike? Using rubber or wood or something so that it does not short out... I am new at this so please be gentle.

Re: Does the Controller Have to be Isolated!

While you're waiting for someone in the know to answer, my semi-educated guess is that if you have *all* the connections being made through a plug or terminals, then it doesn't need to be isolated - although a rubber plate under it might protect it from vibration. If you seem to be missing a ground connection, then it probably (although I think this case is unlikely) needs to be grounded to the frame.
