Question on BL36 and front forks clearance
Submitted by tdetevis on Sat, 08/16/2008 - 10:45.
I am considering a WE BL36 (front wheel) kit for a cheap Kent 15 spd ATB. My question has to do with the fork clearance. Everything I read asks for a 4" clearance between the drop-outs, which my bike has exactly. These instructions also ask for a 4" clearance at a point 5" above the drop-outs. My bike has a clearance of 3 3/4" at the 5" above drop-out point. Will this kit work for me without having to spread the forks? I am hoping that someone who has installed this kit will measure their fork clearance (at 5" above the drop-outs) and either tell me that I'm OK with the 3 3/4" clearance or NO WAY, and I will have to either spread the forks or get another set. Thanks for any help forthcoming.

Re: Question on BL36 and front forks clearance
You should be fine with the clearance. On my BD 36, the widest point on the hub except for the bushings on the axle is 3.5 inches. With the steel suspension forks,I have to modify them, but if you have 3.75 you should be able to clear the forks with no problem. Have fun!
