mileage

I am passing 1000 miles on the odometer today. I have had my bike for about 5 weeks and feel like I am settling into a good dependable routine with my commute. I have had no mechanical problems and except for checking tire inflation and adjusting, no maintenance. Seems like solid technology to me so far...

How is everyone else doing on total distance?

Re: mileage

I've passed 2600 miles (4180 km), and it's whirring along quite nicely.

Re: mileage

At about 1200 miles since may, Ive burned up one motor riding in too hot weather for too long at a time. 1 hr in 105 F was too much for the weather. That motor lasted about 400 miles.

Which vehicle is each of you riding?

Some confusion here, I think!

Re: mileage

I am riding a 2007 Vectrix - I covered my first 1000 miles in about 5 weeks.

Re: mileage

Hello pkn4645,
What is your total impression after your 1000 miles on 07 Vectrix?
Did the bike (gearbox) get any louder after these miles?
Thanks

Re: mileage

Hi
I am at 2300 Miles and running great. My gear box got quieter .

Happy riding. Herb

Re: mileage

Hi Herb,
Do you mean that your gearbox was loud as well before? If so, when did it start to get quieter?
I have only 220 miles on mine, and it started to make those ticking noises that Mik mentioned around the 200 miles mark, it was very smooth and quiet before that.

Re: mileage

Sorry, I stupidly posted on the vectrix thread. I'm a bike guy, not a scooter guy. So I was thinking tiny peadle bike.

Re: mileage

My experience has been very positive so far. I have not noticed any changes in noise except for if the tire pressure gets low. If it is more than a few pounds low, I can hear the brake pads scraping. My gearbox noise is negligible with only a slight whine as I accelerate or use the regen braking. I don't hear any clicking like others have noticed.

My range seems to have improved some over time - maybe 10% better than when it was new. I use the regen braking almost exclusively now which probably helps too. My dealer said they may be getting a larger windscreen which I will probably upgrade if possible.

We have fairly mild winters here in Tennessee so I am hoping to be able to ride a good portion of the year for my daily commute.

Mine was alway pretty good.

Re: mileage

Hi Herb,
Did your bike make noise initially at the gearbox level?
I contacted Vectrix about my noise and they said to keep riding it and it will go away!
Let me know if you have any opinion about that.
Thanks

Re: mileage

Hi,
Was your bike noisy at first then it got quieter?
Mine was quiet till I hit 200 miles on it.
I've contacted vectrix and they said to keep riding it and if it gets worse to contact them again.
Let me know if you any any thoughts about that?
Thanks
BJ

Re: mileage

Update. 3300 miles (5310 km). Since my last report on 2008/08/20, 700 miles (1126 km) traveled, averaging 20 miles (32 km) per day.

No problems with my Vectrix.

Re: mileage

Have logged approx 8500 km (5300 ml) since 08/2007 without any trouble. Kind of like the gear whine, have driven through all winter which was exceptionally mild. Even completed compulsory biker's training day as the first electric participant this spring.

Re: mileage

Just over 2,500 miles in two months, I usually travel 50 miles a day (25 each way on my commute) five days a week. I should be covering around 1,000 miles each month. My entire TCO calculations are based on this mileage vs the Honda X11 that I used to commute on. Even if fuel prices stay as they are I'll break even on the Vectrix in 1.2 years and save some £7,200 over the 4.2 years it should take to get the batteries to their 50,000 end of life!

Thats all on paper though Smiling
