VECTRIX- Questions after 2000 kmt

Hi,
I'm from Israel and bought a VECTRIX 4 months ago.
After 2000 kilometers, I still have a few questions:

1- How can the annoying spring that keeps the back seat open be replaced? Following the comments, people like it. I find it terrible: 1.1) The back seat cannot be fully opened; 1.2) Frequently, a slight contact makes the spring collapse trapping my hand; 1.3 )The closing action is too sudden. Any ideas, folks?

2- Additional storage: I remember I saw once a picture of a plastic back case that perfectly fits the back seat (if not used). Now I cannot remember where I saw that picture. The storage room of the Vectrix is too small, compared con my former Suzuki Burgman... Any ideas how to add storage or more specifically about the plastic case that fits on the rear seat?

3- No matter how slow I ride, I cannot get more that 60 Kmts ride. The seller told me that they found a defective cell and replaced it but I cannot see the difference. I tryed many rides running 60 km/h (~40 mph) MAX, but cannot get more than 60 kmt, one or two batteries bars left- Does that sound normal? I also keep the tire pressure as recommended, my weight is 78 kg including clothing and the case is about 2-3 kg.

4- Any idead how to get more from the batteries?

Thanks in advance,
Claudio

Re: VECTRIX- Questions after 2000 kmt

I just took the spring and the passenger handrail off altogether.

Re: VECTRIX- Questions after 2000 kmt

1.) I had a lot of problems with my first Vectrix's seat support spring, so I cut a small diameter wooden dowel to use as a prop for the seat when opened. There are "pocket" areas in the plastic seat base that will prevent the dowel from slipping loose, and you can add a rubber tip to it for further slip prevention. So far I haven't needed it on my second Vectrix, but I still have it, just in case. Sure makes packing groceries in there a lot less frustrating! HAHA!! :-)

3&4.) Your range sounds pretty much normal to me. I have never gotten over 30 miles out of a charge, no matter how I ride, but I have a few hills to contend with, so I'm sure others in low areas can get up to 40 miles. I wouldn't expect anything more than that though, in spite of what the hyped up advertising said.

2.) Vectrix was prototyping a trunk, which replaced the rear seat, and opened into the original trunk space. With all the financial issues circling around the company these days, you can pretty much forget that being a purchasable option any time soon.
Here's a few shots of the trunk on display at an expo a while back:

Oh- Great!
Those are the pictures I was looking for.
Regarding the spring, I'm going to take it off.
I also notice that, without exaggerations, the driving style does not affect to much the range, as expected.
Thanks a lot for the answers!
