How to transport bike with a car?

I'm interested in taking long trips with a car and I would prefer to bring my XB-600 bike with me.

I thought of removing the battery to make it easier & lighter to transport. Wondering if a bike rack would be sturdy enough to hold the XB-600 attached on the back.

Has anyone figured this out succesfully?

Definitely not. A Bike rack is meant to hold 30 or 40 pounds at most. Not close to 250 pounds of electric bike.
You would need a vehicle with a Class III hitch and a hitch mounted wheelchair lift.

That or a motorcycle trailer. Only other option is a truck or SUV you can lift it into, although taking out the battery pack DOES help make it lighter, just not light enough for a bike rack.

Dave ; Tennessee
XB-600.

Thanks for the feedback.

I had thought of either having one wheel on the ground with the rest suspended inside the tailgate or laying the bike down on the flatbed of the back of the car. This latter thought would damage the lights on the bike.

This is probably something that I'll defer until next year with better weather and other possible options.

This latter thought would damage the lights on the bike.

And that's why the first modification to mine involved replacing the stock turn signals. Tipped it over in the rain.
