Vibration and wobbles from the front wheel

Good evening all,
This is probably not only Vectrix related but I do notice if I let go or loosen the grip on the handle bars I get a lot of shackin! I'm sure that if I continued to hold loosely it would eventually throw me off the bike. Don't want to go there...

Is it from the front wheel being out of balance. Any ideas?

Re: Vibration and wobbles from the front wheel

Most bikes I have ridden can be ridden without hands on the handlebars without wobbling. I wouldn't recommend it though!

Keep it shiny side up!

Yes, unbalanced, or unevenly WORN front tires, can encourage a wobble, especially if allowed to proceed undamped! (Holding the handlebars gives some "damping", or supression, to such events.) It has NEVER been advisable to operate with "No Hands"!-Bob

A new front tire should solve the problem.

My Vectrix has only 3900 km and I have the same phenomenom, so I don't think it is due to the tire. I'll have the front wheel checked.

My 15.000 km front tyre suffered this same problem. After getting it replaced with a Michelin tyre, the phenomenon ceased immediately.

I suggest you should balance the wheel or change the tyre.

Absolutely agree! The OEM Pirellis are really poor IMO. I have Michelin Gold Standards on mine now and the handling is fantastic.

Re: Vibration and wobbles from the front wheel

Went to the garage next door today. They said that all modern bikes do this around 60km/hr because of the fork angles used today. OK As it turns out their balancing machine could not take the Vectrix front wheel so nothing to be done anyway.

I did need some air and that helped the handling and comfort of the bike no end. In my view for the Vectrix - probably the only thing to really keep a check on... Didn't Obama say something about that...

This problem looks like only being solved with a new front tire.

BUT the mechanics did take the bike for a test ride and they were absolutely blown away - their words "Now we understand why you bought this". This is from guys who spend their life working and riding bikes/scooters.

I think this is a very big complement for the Vectrix

You should go to a motorbike garage. They have the suitable equipment to balance the motorbike's wheel.

Only the front wheel.

The rear is too tricky...
