Best way to open and close battery box

So after my first succesful venture into the battery box and a test of all 102 cells and succesful use of the well-decribed lamp method as inrush limiter I still am a little puzzled about the somewhat odd interference of the back of the battery box with the plastic lip of the storage compartment. More specifically, the only way I could get the battery box top with the fans nside off the bike was to rpy back the lip that is connected to the back the seat latch and is part of the moleded plastic storage compartment. It works but one really has to bend this piece up so much that I am concerned that it may break. Is there an easier way that I am just not seeing?
BTW, I must say that the design of this machine is just stunning! This is not a toy and a lot of thought went into the engeneering. If only the battery health where more reliable.

No, I had the same problem prying off the air plenum assembly. I actually had to remove the trunk lid contact switch so that I wouldn't break if off.
