Battery not fully charged

I have two sla battery sets, both are 36v 7amp. The first set is set up in an ebike le battery box with the built in charger, the battery consisits of 6 (6v-7ah, setup in parrallel and serial to get 36v 7ah) and at this moment it only charges up to 4amp.

My second sla battery set is in a battery bag of 3 (12-7ah, setup in serial to get 36v 7ah) and this one I'm using an inline charger and I get the full charge every time of 7amp.

I tried switching chargers on the battery box to see if that would give me a full charge and still only get 4amp charge.

What can I do to get the maximum charge of the 6v-7ah battery box set.

I read some searches related to VR1 & VR2 related to chargers will that help and can someone explain about its fuction.

Thanks for your assistance in advance.

Re: Battery not fully charged

HI David,

by 7A, how are you measuring this?

are we talking about a charge rate? or a capacity?

Re: Battery not fully charged

Hi Matt,

The 7amp is the capacity of the batteries and measuring through a meter that tells me how much amp its carrying.

The battery box set is carrying only 4amps even though its has a capacity of 7amps
The battery bag set is carrying the full 7amps.

So right now what can I do to increase the battery to take the additional 3amps either in my charger or battery itself?

Thanks again for your assistance

Re: Battery not fully charged

what voltage are both batteries charging at?

are they both the same while under charge?

If so, the internal resistance of the battery that only accepts charge at 4A is quite high.

check the voltage first before we start playing around with pumping more current into them.

what batteries are they? make? model?

Matt

PS. a batteries Ah rating refers to how many amps you can pull out of it for how long.
for example, a 7Ah battery can be charged/discharged at 4A for ~35minutes in a perfect world.
some SLAs don't charge particularly quickly. theres not alot that can be done about it.
for a 7Ah battery, 4A is actually quite a high charge rate.
