Re: Deafscooter Build off new "Limo Monster Scooter"

Hi Craig, Have you considered going to aluminum for project frames? Once you master welding steel with your TIG I'll bet you could move into aluminum pretty quickly. My welding friend here in Louisville says the TIG is perfect for aluminum fabrication. It takes practice and a good machine, but he does beautiful work now in the lighter metal. Just a thought. Keep up the good work...looks great!

Hi, Buckeroo Bob,
===
The frame is steel because my customer wanted strong steel scooter for carry two person,
===
Craig Can do Welding Aluminum, Stainless, Copper, Also Titanuim in Vaccum Chambed
I own 600 amps Mig, 400 amps Tig Welder, Laser Welder also High Temp Plamsa Welding
===
Co-2 Laser Cutter in CNC & 80 amp Plasma Cutter system too, it can cut up to 1" Steel!
===
Also Metal melting furnace from high Powered Arc & Argon filled in chambing then firing
then molten-metal pour into casting & make custom Monster DC Motors Housing Parts
===
!Warning! The Melt metal is very dangerous to handle the high temp yellow glow metal !
I use 15,000 amps to power ARC into Metal melting furnace for 15=30 minute to melt!!
===
The 240 Volts, 18,000 amps for 15 minutes from The large array of batteries on shelve

Re: Deafscooter Build off new "Limo Monster Scooter"

LoL, my shop some day will maybe have half the power yours does, LoL you got some major equipment to use!
Me, I have started to work with Aluminum my self, I am not good at it yet, I splatter it like it is my first time every time I tried so far...I will be taking a couple classes to get my aluminum welding up so I can fab the next gen EVpocket bikes next year!

LoL you still dont let people see your motors? I have an idea what you are useing but I will keep it hush hush for you, LoL.. ;) Me I am looking at high end brushless setups right now and if all goes well and I can get my hands on the 8000rpm mini monster I want, I will have the 60mph goal I set for my self 2 years ago(pocket bikes)!

As much as I hate your posting techniques, your scooter framing is getting really super cool, I loved your last scoot you made, that one was a tank, but you could ride it all day from what I read, good work, keep up your EV works, your a major player in the small EV's as we all know here :)

And they don't know why if doesn't "look" the same after you must splice in a design correction! Make him pay for his "waffling"! Ha! I run into the same thing with my woodwork customers from time to time. Very unnerving to say the least.

Re: Deafscooter Build off new "Limo Monster Scooter"

Don't worry, I'm sure he'll make me pay in spades. ;) To clear my name ... Craig had told me that everything would fit inside 51" and I said great, go ahead. However, when I emerged back on the grid after burning man, I discovered that in fact, it would not all fit inside 51" and that he'd already gone ahead and started welding. I asked him to pause, explain to me what had changed, and tell me if it was still possible to fit everything in the frame. The ever diligent engineer, Craig immediately drafted and posted the alternatives for me. After taking a couple days to assess and get up to speed, I told Craig that his engineering was spot on and to continue.

I've been on both sides of web and engineering projects and although I hate being the @$$hole manager, this is just what happens when the guy paying the bill comes back and discovers something other than what he was expecting.

Anyways, Craig has been awesome so far and it's been a pleasure working with someone so incredibly knowledgeable and talented. I can't wait to get the scooter!

Craig doing Tig Welding job and work on carefully glueing on it,

The Advanced Tig welding are Very difficulties to processes work
tungsten electrode got burned and too much foot Pedal controllers
and the filling rod to feeding to arc on metalwork ang got hole!!!
=
=
Now, i have running out the Pure Agron Tank and Tungsten Rod...
=
This is Very expesives for agron & Tungsten rod to do welding job on it
=
I wait for Customer to send money for Refillables Pure Agron tank &
need 6 Tungsten rod , filling rods to contine welding on framework
=
or i have to doing MIG ( wire feeding welding ) for cheap cost to weld
=> Up to Customer want cutting edge from cost on Welding supply =
=

==========================================

Deafscooter using Tig Welding on Framework look good glued on it
Tigstem1a.jpg
Tig are Very Good weld and cover the weak point to strong weld job
==========================================

=
The Tig is Very Professional welding & good Glued
The Mig is Cheap work because get Distortion Metal
=
=
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) ( Tig Welding )
Requires greater welding skills than MIG or stick welding
Superior quality welds work job
Welds can be made with or without filler metal
Precise control of welding variables (heat)
Free of spatter and clean on workshop
Low distortion, better for high Precision
Great on Alum, Copper, Stainless, Titanuim
More costly for Professional welding work sections
=
Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) (Mig Welding )
All position welding capability
Higher deposition rates than SMAW
Less operator skill required
Minimal post weld cleaning is required
Lot of spatter to fire Hazard
Mild to High Distortion Metal
Most is Cheap Metal as Steel, for Lowest cost supplies
=

Re: Deafscooter Build off new "Limo Monster Scooter"

Craig came up with this brilliant modification to relocate the controller but not increase the overall length of the scooter. It fits perfectly back there. Unfortunately he had to do slightly rework the frame, but in the end I think it's made for a great, slim profile design.

On the weight ... before we started I went to the gym and did some tests. The max I can comfortably carry one handed up two flights of stairs without a wrist brace is 150 lbs. So that's what he's been using as our outer limit ... although we went past it anyways! So I'm probably going to have to use a wrist brace to carry it since its looking to be just a bit beyond my grip strength.
