EV Global EBike Problems
Submitted by veromar on Tue, 06/24/2008 - 17:02I just got this blue Iacocca LE 36v ebike. I was very excited to improve it, so I converted to 3 SLA 12v, 12ah batteries in series to provide the 36v, 12ah that would propel me to 18-20 miles or so. It rode nicely as I was testing, and I was doing over 10-12 miles with plenty to spare. I rode about 3-4 times until ...
Yesterday I turned it on after a full night's charge. I got a bright green, meaning fully charged and ready. The headlight strong, brake light and horn all in operating condition. I press the throttle and nothing. No power to the reputable 500 Heinsmann hub motor, nothing. I also noticed a few days ago that this happened before all my 3-4 rides in the beginning, but I would turn it off then on again and it would give me power. This time though, nothing. It seems as if it went dead for good this time. I've tried the following test's as recommended by the manual:
QR connector test (this didn't solve the problem)
brake sensor operation test (checked fine)
brake sensor continuity test (checked fine)
throttle control test (checked fine)
throttle test (checked fine)
motor test (did not check fine, no voltage coming from Heinsmann motor as I spun the wheel with a voltmeter connected to the leads from the motor.)
I also tried to check voltage on the two leads from the controller and as I pressed the thumb throttle and I got no voltage. hmm.
I'm either suspecting the controller or the motor. I could understand the controller or the throttle maybe, but does the motor just die like that? It was working so consistently, hmmm. If someone with experience with these bikes can help I would really appreciate it.
thanks.

Charger 'Human power assist" type bikes
Submitted by drivingblindwv on Sun, 05/04/2008 - 10:50I own two Charger 'Human power assist" type bikes that I bought. One from a company called Electroportal and the other I bought off of e-Bay. I love the bikes. The power modeule that control the bikes propulsion are now not functioning. The company has been sold and the new owners cannot repair them. I need an electric bike to get around mostly city conditions but be able to go off the beatren path on occasions. Distance and speen are more important to me than off road capability. I paid about $1250.00 a piece for the bike I have now. What bike do you recommend or what conversion kit to you recommend?
Or does anyone know of someone who can repair the controllers or modify them or if anyone has them for sale?

Deafscooter reply for estimates to do Modding Frame only
I can do Framework only for 300$ Modding frame only
Like you want do mount your own 1000 watts motor on
middle of frame and large battery tray to your scooter
and strudy frame work
you can send me "bone Frame with Fork " to here and
let me modding frame only for your future to install
your own Motor..
-----
Do not send to me any parts like wheel, motor , battery ,
speed controller steering parts ( expect frame/fork only )
---
The price is $300.00 for modding s180 framework only
There, Do not include parts like speed controller ,
Motor , Battery , wheel & return shipping to your door
-----
Let me do mod framework only then you own your Electric
item like 1000 watts motor, battery , speed control , wheel ,
sprocket etc,,
then i send a shipping modding frame to you back'
you do put items your own your Electric item like
1000 watts motor, battery , speed control , wheel ,

Submitted by momo_the_monster on Thu, 10/25/2007 - 09:32I've got a Yamaha SRX250 converted to Electric that I'm having some problems with. I've been talking with the creator who has been trying to guide me through troubleshooting the bike but I'm quite inexperienced with electrical systems.
I'm located in Mid-City Los Angeles - just east of Culver City.
