This just hit the news wires, and if you look you'll find a few news articles about this. It isn't mentioned in the press release - but Brammo's motorcycle assets had been bought by Polaris, and were being sold under the Victory brand. This means that the Empulse will cease to be sold as described in this press release. Spare parts are supposed to be available for 10 years.
Polaris Industries to Wind Down Victory Motorcycles Operations Strengthening its Position in the Powersports Industry
Yesterday, Brammo finally released some details on the Empulse. The bike was first unveiled at the e-Power electric motorcycle race, July 24, 2010, Laguna Seca. But Brammo's people later decided to change the design to incorporate a 6-speed transmission, causing a delay from the originally announced production date in 2011 to a date in 2012. It's 2012 now, and Brammo is starting the marketing rollout to launch the bike. They've released a video (below) and a teaser picture (below) and released specs for the bike.
This morning Brammo and Polaris (makes snowmobiles, ATV's, off-road vehicles, motorcycles and low speed electric vehicles) announced that Polaris is taking a small ownership stake in Brammo. They promised this would let them integrate Brammo's drive train components into some of Polaris's vehicles.
Brammo just sent out a press release saying they'd bought the company formerly known as QuantyaParx, and will be relaunching it as BrammoParx.
The QuantyaParx were "hire and ride" facilities specifically for electric off-road motorcycles and I believe were solely for Quantya dirt bikes. I've sent them an email to verify whether that's true, and/or whether the BrammoParx will be single-vendor as well.
These Parx already exist in Germany, Austria, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. They plan to open some in the USA ..when..?
