After two major and costly probs at visforvoltage.com, it's not my first choice, even if the invision board is formatted better. I like the blogs here, and the admin seems very serious about maintenance and installation of new modules, options and such.

I was poking around Drupal's site and found there's a mod which lets us have flat forums. Plus, it's selectable by user. I'll experiment with a test installation and see if it works before unleashing it on y'all.

I think they misstated the story. The flat forums are still threaded, they're just having a flatter indentation than currently.

I prefer the other because I don't have to hunt for what is new. I log in click view new posts since last visit and that is what it gives me. Here I click recent posts and it gives me pages to scroll through hunting for that little red "new" word. Often I open a thread to see no new postings at all and the last posting there was days ago (and I read it days ago).

I also like the other because when I made a boo boo to my "blog" the admin fixed it when asked. The one here still has the duplicate boo boo I made on the 18th and asked to be fixed on the 18th. Other than those two things they are both about the same to me so whichever is more efficient (ease of use at lower cost) is what should be run with.

Very interesting, and not expected. It probably should have been included in the Poll. I was actually asking only about the formating of the 2. Am I correct in assuming you prefer the format on visforvoltage.org over visforvoltage.com?
The administration is also very important, and we have heard that from quite a few people. Can you set up a 2 week Poll to address the administration issues as you see them?
BTW is the administration draft posted here yet?

Thank you for your wonderful and timely rectification of our concerns. It's getting better by the hour.
This is probably something we are not use to, and will spoil us.
I just had the second limb fall from the weight of the ice and this one almost took out the neighbors phone line. The first one brought down my phone line, it's now laying on the ground.
Can you rectify my problem as quickly? I'm afraid one will take out the neighbors car or my room, so I'll be up all night watching.
Sooo if I'm not bugging anyone for awhile, you'll know what happen. The lights just blinked, I'm out of here before the elect goes.

We're still working on some procedural things. We're still the new kid on the block, not even 3 weeks old yet, and we have to crawl before we can walk.
I'm just finally learning my way around the site myself.

What and where is the boo boo?
Are you aware you can edit your post yourself.
I'm sure our webmaster is backlogged on some of the other problems submitted here. Right now he is very busy getting the bugs out, and attempting to make the site what our members want to the best of his ability.

Don't forget that Steve Patmont invited us to use space at Goped nation or wherever that was. Another option I suppose. I like it's look and feel, but the two stroke smell drifts over from the other part of the board

I really miss the format of the Ken's forum, but I can see with enough tweaking, this board can come pretty close. It's sort of a learning curve thing. Thanks to David for trying to tailor the look/feel of this forum to help us computationally challenged folks. I'm still getting used to the controls.

The #1 thing that needs to be worked on for this board is finding new posts. The way it does it currently is - - well - - not good.
A search for new posts shouldn't bring up topics without new posts. It seems to be returning new and also unanswered posts.

Have you tried the "Recent" link in the header?
There is also a RSS link on the right side next to Syndicate or http://visforvoltage.org/rss.xml
Once setup you will get a notification of any new post via, email, IM, cell phone etc.

I'm not at all in favor of moving our interests to the GPN board. Nothing against Steve. The GPN board is mostly populated by adolescents which isn't in itself bad, there just isn't the mostly mature behavior I've grown accustomed to with the Voltage forum. Quit frankly the behavior of many of the mods there is disappointing and all too often despicable.

The format here has been terribly frustrating for me. I don't know if I'm just not as sharp as everyone else or what but navigating through here is extremely clumsy and frustrating. Its been keeping me from being a regular visitor.

Sometimes its just too easy to complain. In all fairness, I've just done a good bit of clicking around and things are becoming more familiar. Perhaps I'm getting the hang of it or recent tweaks have improved some of what I had difficulty with. Either way, this place isn't half bad. Thanks for everyone's hard work.
