Building an NEV from a used Golf Cart

I live on an island where the speed limit is 35 mph. We have a lot of NEVs, mostly GEMS, of which maybe 20-30 are rentals and maybe another 10 or so are privately owned.

There are perhaps another 20 folks who use golf carts on the public roads, some legally (registered as NEVs) some illegally (just driving an old golf cart on the road, with no lights or other modifications, or registration or insurance). These latter vehicles are particularly dangerous, as they cannot go much more than 15 mph and represent a real road hazard.

NEV's Under Attack article.

Well, it sounds like a valid concern. But always the rush to BAN. Adding some side structure wouldn't make it much heavier, but I think people like the easy in and out of these things.

Sunday May 23, 2010 - NEVs Under Attack - The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is calling for banning NEVs on public roads because of poor the protection they offer in a collision.

Sending out thanks and recommending a company

I found a guy and a company that I wish to tell you guys about. I am not spamming..I am genuinly impressed by this guy.
I called him and he returned my call at night after he got home from work. I told him what I am building and he had some suggestions..but not till he tested them himself. He went out in his garage and built the system and wired it all up,tested it and sent me hand drawn diagrams and pictures of his mock up.
Honestly I have never had a company do so much for me even though I had not yet even done business with them.

I am building something strange...need some advice.

I am building a lightwieght golf cart and need some pointers. I have the motors picked out,the gear ratio is perfect,it has plenty of power but now I have to wire it up.
Its 24 volt and has (two) two wire motors. I want to use this curtis controller I have but need a wire diagram that is easy and practical. its a curtis controller simular to the 1204x on the website. I need to know if it will work on the two wire motors.

scooterboy converting a tractor

Hey guys,
Necessity is the mother of invention. A few years ago i needed a way to get to work in philly and i took a razor e-300 to 36v, 750 motor, and 100amp controller------sweet reliable transport.

Well now my tractor ICE died, and i'm researching conversion. A few questions:

I would like to run the drive and the deck off one motor. Is this feasible? The current ICE setup has the vert driveshaft into an electric clutch (pulley)for drive and another pulley for deck belt. If i get a powerful enough setup, a one motor sitiation is optimal.

Screaching brake sounds

I have been moved to a new site at my job where it requires me to make patrol rounds with an electric vehicle golf cart. This is something that I am going to have to get used to now, driving electric vehicles as patrol vehicles, wow.
I never thought that would happen to me :) anyway long story short......

DMV laws and electric vehicles

City managers in Oregon are trying to pass an ordinance to allow vehicles such as golf carts to be legal on city streets.
They are also trying to establish bank outlets in downtown areas.

If new laws are created (for electric vehicles) within the DMV, Will this make things easier for registration process of the DMV?
There is a link below and a video.
