Battery Charger problems

HI Everyone,

I seem to be having a problem with my ECOPED SPARQ, it has a 48v lead acid battery. Yesterday I left it charging on the original charger when I came down i nthe moring , the charger was making a wistleing noise. I opened up the charger and noticed a 220uF 83v capacitor was vented, so I had a 220uF 63V cap around so I used it and then tested the voltage and nothing was going out.

Mosfet wiring for ignition Key

Need some help
Water got into the Mosfet for the Ignition key and began bleeding electric through when in off position
I bought a P-Mosfet and a N-Mosfet but could not get either to work . When wired as I thought both were in the “on” mode with no effect of the Key switch
any help would be grateful, researched all say and NO Joy!
thanks K.

Positive feedback on Kelly controller

Just want to post a good report of my experience with Kelly controllers.

It was cheaper to buy a new Kelly controller than have my old Curtis controller repaired.
I was advised to go for a higher rated Kelly to replace the Curtis, so I did, (as the ratings are for peak amps), but I am really pleased with it. Free software and cable, good price, free postage, and it works well. It was simpler to set-up.

The nightmare I was having with Curtis repair and config is over. Fany from Kelly was helpful by email, and the controller is better in every way!

contactor or fuse position in circuit rules - WHY??

Manuals advise contactors and fuses to be put on the B+ end of the circuit not the B-
Why does it make any difference, the whole lot is connected in series so I can't see how in physics it matters
Theres obviously something about electronics I don't understand, grateful if someone can explain?

Making own simple controller

I've ordered a IRF3205 75amp MOSFET to try and experiment if I can make a simple DC speed controller, using an arduino I have to give a PWM signal to it.
I posted on another forum asking if I can just use the single MOSFET on its own, and I was told I would need also at least a diode to stop voltage spikes back from the motor.
Does anyone know which component diode I can use for this?
Do DC motors generally have a diode already built in to stop these back spikes?
I'm a bit clueless on all this so very grateful if someone can point me where to start

Programming Curtis controller, software?

http://ev.forumchitchat.com/post/curtis-controllers-holding-the-ev-industry-back-6830895?pid=1282308884#post1282308884

I've had a few problems with my curtis controller and need to change some settings. CURTIS charge a fortune for the lead and software to do so. :(
I am going to try to make my own lead, does anybody have a copy of the software?
