Where to buy BMC motors?

Other than electric-bikes.com, where can I find this motor for sale? Ideally I would like to find a Canadian vendor, but any suggestions would help.

PC controlled motor as a variable load ?

I was hoping someone could help out with some thoughts on EV type motors & controllers in a stationary PC controlled situation.
The need is to control and monitor rpm and negative torque where the driving is provided not by the motor...
So how to best use a motor as a variable load ?
Is this easily implemented with any of the motors & controllers popular here? About 20Nm max & <1000rpm intermitent would be good :)
Would the Crystalyte 500 type motor be a good choice for this? Is there any PC supported motor controller that I can use to achieve these goals ?

Bmc 400w/600w 24v motor (USPD, lashout, Currie, Synergy cycles)
Submitted by Pacific Ave Cycles on Wed, 03/03/2010 - 01:05Does anyone have a use for any BMC motors with bad internal controllers??? i have about 25+ 400watt, & about 10+ 600watt... All motors cw d-shaft 24v 40a used mainly on Currie USPD, Synergy Cycles and Lashout Electric bikes. Motors will need a new external control wired in, These are the same motors as the Power Pack Motors were using, but they still have the internal controller sealed in.

Linear actuator motor

Help with custom build please!!!!!!!
Submitted by wackytomtom on Thu, 01/21/2010 - 18:51What i am trying to accomplish is to run a snowblower off of the front of my pickup truck. The blower is completely fabricated by myself, it is a dual stage unit that is 8 feet wide, the front auger's diameter is 13 inchs and the secondary auger measures 23 inches in diameter. The truck is a 2003 gmc 2500hd equiped with the duramax diesel and allison transmission. What i am having trouble with is powering my blower. I do NOT want to run a gasoline engine on the blower because that has been done before and i have done it before. I do not like how it performs. I have explored the options of running a pto off of my transmission but i dont have enough room, ive also explored using a hydraulic clutch pump running off of the trucks engine but i can not fine a large enough pump.
So what i am pondering now is running it electrically. I was thinking of using a electic motor off of a golf cart or something similar, using a 24,36, or 48 volt system, and putting an auxilary large output alternator (150-200 amp) on my truck to charge these batterys. I need the gearbox that is mounted on my snowblower to spin around 600 rpms and have around 150-200 foot pounds of torque. If anyone has any ideas or input about if this could be run electrically i would great apprciate it.

Burnt-out Currie BLDC controller
Submitted by dermot on Wed, 01/20/2010 - 09:25My old Currie ElectroDrive stuttered yesterday, then some of the magic smoke escaped from the controller area.
This is a very old one using a brushless DC motor and integrated controller.
I believe that repairing the controller is not really feasible, but that, with care, it can be removed making the phase and hall wires for the motor accessible.
Anyone done this and has documented the process? I have a couple of Crystalyte controllers and appropriate batteries (battery is 36V 13AH NiMH, controller is 20A) - might they be suitable as an external replacement? The original runs on 24V and I think it was rated at 24V - will the motor survive if I run the new controller at 36V?
The mechanics is in very good order, and it has run so well that I'd like to recover it if possible - I've not found anyone in the UK who actually holds stock of new motors - think they've changed a lot over the years anyway.

36v 500W controller

I purchased a new controller from Virtual-Village and no wiring diagram was supplied. The battery, motor, and throttle connections are obvious. Can anyone help me identify the remaining two wires? There is an extra thin wire on the battery plug and a single brown wire on a separate plug. If both of these wires were on the same plug I would assume they were the lock wires (switch).
