Climate Change is a "Crisis".

This is true in all cases because a change in the climate disrupts the ability of man to survive.

Just came across this piece of news and decided to write up my own news article on it.

It's generally an "assumed truth" that CO2 rise corresponds with Temperature rise.

We know CO2 has risen, so we "assume" that our only outcome is warming.

Right?

Simple...

But then reality intrudes on our smugness. ;)

In the Permian we see this sudden rise in temperature, but NOTHING as far as CO2.

CO2 was at a level lower than human history.

Maybe the system is more complex than we thought?

There is a tendency to obsess on "which direction" the climate might be headed when it would seem to me the core issue is that:

"All forms of Climate Change will increase stress."

The ways that mankind deals with stress are:

1) Improve efficiency (relieving stress)

2) War (reduces the population, thus reducing stress)

3) Natural Causes (disease)

I'm sure we can think of more and dig deeper into these.

The way you manufacture a hurricane is through decades of burning fossil fuels, de-sequestering carbon that the planet had sequestered millions of years ago. The way you manufacture a hurricane is through ignoring the warming climate and warming oceans. The way you manufacture a hurricane is through ignoring the increasing frequency of extreme weather events. The way you manufacture a hurricane is through ignoring the shrinking glaciers and warnings that a large quantity of the glaciers are poised to fall into the ocean raising sea levels by several feet.
