Online Workshops on Electric Mobility

Dear Forum Members,
I'm a scientist at KIT in Germany researching the user acceptance of electric vehicles there. I am interested to learn more about the Canadian experiences and organize online workshop for that reason.
Are you interested in sharing your experiences with us and learning more about future mobility concepts?
Then please contact me for further information and details. No specific prior knowledge is needed.
Thank you for your interest!
I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Has the EV already become obsolete ?

Daily we read of longer and longer range Electric vehicles. The impending release of the large 5 seat Tesla ‘S’ sedan, with a range capacity of over 500 klms and 12 minute fast charge capacity appears set to ensure the internal combustion engine obsolete!. Nearly every major auto-manufacturer is racing to produce some form of EV. Given the level of concern over global warming, carbon taxes, oil depletion, and increases in the price of gasoline, the future of EV transport, never looked brighter!

Or is it?

Electric vehicles in Space

Today marks an interesting event in science, NASA's Dawn spacecraft has entered orbit around the asteroid Vesta.

For space geeks, this is a really cool event, possibly comparable to the spacecraft that visited a comet. But for electric vehicle geeks like us, this should be seen as an equally momentous event. Why? Because the Dawn spacecraft has an electric drive.

Thermopile?

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with thermopile generators?

If the term is foreign (it was to me), it is an array of thermocouples used to generate current from heat.

Molten Salt batteries

Molten salt battery

TR10: Liquid Battery

EV NaNiCl Zebra® battery

And though historically they have to produce electricity for the grid as you use it without any storage, molten salt batteries have changed that. Now maybe they won't have to crank up the coal plant just because you're charging your car. American Electric Power

Werk Trein

Werk trein

Looks like an electric vehicle to me. I'm wondering where all the power comes from. I would assume the train is generating it. So if the hydrogen car ever works, what sort of work vehicle can they make out of an ordinary size van, generating it's own power?
