ElMoto my 1980 Kawasaki 440 LTD electric conversion

A couple of years ago I picked up a motorcycle with a seized engine for $100.00.

I mounted an electric motor where the battery used to be & some batteries where the engine used to be.

I started off running it @ 36V using (3) 12V 35AH Harbor Freight solar batteries.

Then, I moved up to 48V by adding a 4th battery (& upgrading the contactor to 48V)

Next, I upgraded it to a 45V 45AH Lithium battery pack, out of a Chevy Volt.

Help switching fuse types on eZee

I need a little help please. The internal fuse in my eZee battery broke the other days thanks to lots of bumps in the streets. To avoid this in the future I'd like to bypass the internal cylindrical fuse and make a simple connector extension that would connect to the power wires. Is it as simple as connecting the current two fuse wires and then adding the extension. I don't want to muck up any of the othe protective features the eZee may have. Pics are attached. The fuse is on the side with the singular round plug. The other side shows the charger plug and the rocker style on off switch.

Electric Reverse Trike - Eco-Exo R - advice requested

Hi,
i have seen a reverse trike that you can build in the UK or US at Eco-Exo dot com. The R model is with steering wheel rather than handlebars, which some people prefer. They are based on suzuki burgman components including the original petrol engine power chain. The weight as constructed is 200KG. The desired range and speed for me to use as a city commute is 60mph and 15 miles before an overnight recharge.

I have thought of 3 strategies to reduce weight and electrify the kit and would like your advice on this and any other suggestions:

- use alternative front wheels that are lighter than the stock burgman scooter ones and have smaller section tyres. Use a hub motor (for simplicity) at the rear and a custom designed or adapted burgman swing arm for it.

- same as the first option but using an inboard motor and chain drive to rear wheel.

- 2 hub motors at the front, similar to the original burgman items, with a simple swing arm/wheel and disc at the rear.

Please may I ask you to comment on each option and suggest suitable motors, controllers and battery packs. If your advice is to accept lower performance, please suggest what I can reasonably aim for.

The intention is to build to a budget and save on commuting costs over time. The kit costs about £2K.

Looking for bike help in Central Mass.

I have two electric bikes - one a mountain bike E with a currie motor and Li Ping batter, the other a nomad trike with 36V system on SLA batteries. My bike guru is no longer available. Anyone out there know of a shop or a person that will work on these things?

Burning up motors

i've burned up two direct drive and 1 geared motor going up hills. i'm running 48 volts on these 36 Volt/500 watt motors (DD). the geared motor is 36 Volt/350 Watt from ampedbikes. So now i'm getting the idea that i need to keep the motors cool by not using them on steep hills. what would be helpful, is if they put a thermocouple sensor in the hub. Anyone tried this? that way i'd know when to lay off the throttle before i burned up my motor.
