X-Treme Comes Clean, or Just More BS?

It's interesting to see what people/companies do when they're put under the microscope of the public's investigation. X-Treme has just sent out an email {some information edited{} for security, brevity, or obvious private information}:

X-Treme Scooters Dealer E-Mail Update For March 13, 2010

X-Treme Scooters Ends Distribution Contract with Alpha Products International Inc.

After 10 years of distribution, X-Treme Scooters and Alpha Products International Inc. have decided to not renew the contract to distribute. A new distributor named Green Max Distributors out of Tacoma Washington has been selected for the new contract to distribute X-Treme Scooters. Unfortunately the loss for Alpha Products was too much to bear and that company has went out of business.

What does this mean to you as an X-Treme Scooter dealer?

Due to good planning between the companies before the expiration of the contract, you should notice no change in the way you have done business in the past other than your payments to and from will be coming from Green Max Distributors Inc. (AKA G Max or Green Max).

G Max will continue to ship some scooters from the Iowa location until the stock is empty while much of the inventory has already been transferred to the Tacoma warehouse & is already shipping from the new company.

G Max will honor warranties & life time technical support for any product sold by Alpha.

Additional Benefits To Dealers:

* Wait times for your customers for scooters that may be on back order will now be cut in ½ since the transit time from Asia to Tacoma is only 10 days versus 30+ days for delivery to Iowa .

* Outbound shipping transit times will greatly improve to west coast destinations.

* Outbound shipping transit times to East Coast destinations will only increase by 1 day.

* Tacoma Washington is now another pick up location for dealers to use, saving you ${snipped; sale information} each scooter for freight items and ${snipped; sale information} on each smaller toy scooter items.

* The risk of shipping damage is greatly reduced for all scooters because the containers no longer have to travel 3000 miles to Iowa before being unloaded & shipped to you or your customers. Less transit = less chance of damage.

So, finally the mystery of "greenmaxdistributors" has been brought to light. Let's see if X-Treme / "Greg" removes the rest of the smoke-n-mirrors issues and starts to do business like we all wished they would've from the start.

X-Treme Discounts

Ahhh... another wonderful post from the Struggleville Blog:

I have experienced total lack of communication even when word was given that the call would clearly be made on date specified three times for three consecutive days apart from each other from a retailer in Houston, TX. The business in its entirety from wholesaler/supplier to retail store sales out of Houston, TX area seems to be centered around the purchase agreement rather than with my total dissatisfaction. The order was in process to be shipped and had not been the morning of my call to Xtreme. While, the retailer (Randy) did nothing to cancel my order despite my claim the day prior to do so, the wholesaler Gene from Xtreme Scooters would not answer her phone (a 30 minute call back procedure from not processed to processed) after an accidental hangup until she was ready to give me the tracking number. The tracking number was not supplied by Scooter Max out of Houston, TX. The wrong product was delivered, the wrong color, the product did not even work, but I am still waiting on the scooter that I ordered. Everyone seems okay from the start to work professionally, but when shit hits the fan, they do not handle business like professionals, but more like children. It has been two weeks now since my original order and it is an overpriced one at that. My advice, do not use the Xtreme Scooter recommendation and go with a vendor from a local area. Ebay has exactly what you want from Xtreme, but for an on sale price of sixty less, no kidding.

Thanks for your input, speed-o king!

You guys did know that there are X-Treme scooters and things on eBay? I've done some snooping around on those auctions and have come to the idea that it is X-Treme Scooters / API themselves who are selling those at the eBay auctions and NOT any of their dealers. If this is true, then it just goes to show you that, once again, X-Treme is undercutting their own dealers' Minimum Advertised Prices (MAP). Authorized dealers are not allowed to sell their items on eBay:

If you want us to drop ship, ask us. Drop shippers are not required to buy 10 each order since we drop ship to your individual customers. **Dec 1st, 2005 no new e-bay dealers accepted.
Drop ship orders MUST be paid by paypal [sic] as you check out of our store. New potential drop ship dealers must be qualified before we will drop ship for you. To qualify, have a website or online business, Click to request a drop ship info pack & start sending us orders. We do not sell retail to anyone. New dealers, click here to view past dealer e-mail updates in our archive.

Emphasis mine -- On the subject of X-Treme not selling retail to anyone, I use to argue to them about why I hear of so many customers buying scooters directly from their website. Their response was that the customer was sent to one of their dropshipper's sites to purchase items. This other site is called GetScooters and is also X-Treme (pub-7543991716032503), not a dropshipper. Looks like more smoke and mirrors from this company. Ya think?!

I'm sure X-Treme Scooters is legit - must be just my misunderstanding. ROTFLOL

.

At least it's not Toyota.

Journalist gets back on his bike - on an electric bike, that is

Journalist gets back on his bike - http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/journalist-gets-back-on-his-bike-20100309-pvx3.html

Maybe one of our Australian friends can explain who this is. The article says Keith Dunstan was a long-time columnist in Australia who was famous for bicycling everywhere. It says that at 80 during a bicycle ride in the mountains he found himself to be creaky. ("I reached the top but the next day my knees were creaking like rusty chain.") So he started looking for an electric bicycle, found a small folding bike, and appears to be loving it.

Weatherproofing

I am trying to weatherproof a motor for use outside and I've heard of a liquid epoxy that can be applied to the stator and entire inside. Does anyone have any knowledge about this?

Forum timeline-Update info

Something is wrong with the forum, updates are not shown with proper timeline--my last update to the party that had a problem with the different axle on his scooter hub motor is shown as occurring 4 hrs and 38 minutes ago, which is FAR from correct, and the time shown does not change-something went wrong with the server transitions! (I hope this can be sucessfully investigated and corrected.)-Bob
