How do you get to the battery?

Here are some photos taken during battery removal:

.
.

Lethal voltages! Leave it to someone who knows how to deal with it!

.
.
.
.
.

Watch closely, important details visible in most of the photos.

The plastic footrest does not need to come off, it's just shown for interest.

It would be nice if someone could find the time to explain it in words as well!

How to Replace Cells in Vectrix Battery Modules

The cells in the Vectrix battery are held together by a metal band in modules of 9 cells or 8 cells.

The metal band provides compression against cell swelling during times of raised intra-cell pressure. The cells can then only bulge at little bit on the narrow sides.

Prius NiMH cells for Vectrix Replacement Packs?

I am evaluating Prius NHW10 batteries.

I have four complete batteries, with 40 "sticks" each. Don't know yet how many cells are salvageable, and how much of their original 6.5Ah capacity they still have.

There is a nice BMS in there, it does not look like the Toyota engineers were told to cut corners....

Auxiliary Battery Cooling - ABCool

I have been working on additional battery cooling systems to extend the battery life of my Vectux.

Keeping NiMH batteries cool is one of the most important parts of looking after them.

There is every chance that charging efficiency, range and battery longevity will be positively influenced by removal of heat from the batteries when they are more than 25°C warm.

Therefore I designed and built a device I call the ABCool 12V power supply.

It keeps on changing a fair bit, depending on the season and other circumstances.

HID Lamp Without Auxiliary 12V Battery

Here is a compilation of several posts about the Vectux HID light:

I bought a set of 2 HID lamps and ballasts for cars, because they contained the same kind of parts as this motorbike kit: MOTORBIKE 12V H4 H/L BIXENON HID KIT 35W 6000K . The content of this ebay link might of course change - be careful.
The seller sold me a motorbike HID harness separately for another AU$25.-

Vectrix Hazard Lights

Vectrix Hazard Lights - or rather the lack thereof!

The official Vectrix manual recommends deep discharges by driving the Vectrix on the road.

At the end of a "deep discharge ride" the scooter is strictly speaking not roadworthy, cannot accelerate normally, cannot travel uphill, cannot go faster than maybe 40km/h on a flat road....

I think it would be a requirement to use hazard lights under such circumstances!

Of course, there are all the usual uses for hazard lights on vehicles as well.

Why does the Vectrix VX1 not have them?

Cleaning the Vectrix Motor Encoder Sensor without special tools or software

A book page to report on how to clean the Vectrix Motor Encoder Sensor without messing up the alignment, bending the metal disk or making calibration necessary.

What to do, what not to do, what problems were encountered?

Did it fix the problem?
