Conversion time and cost:
$1000 new plus a radioshack 12v 8amp SLA for 35bucks, 12ga wire and some connectors, already had solder iron.

Congrats and welcome to the club!
You might want to investigate getting a 20ah battery and 60volt charger. That works pretty well and they discharge all at the same rate.
