Not much is known about them right now. Google.org made an investment in the company in 2008. ActaCell has been working toward a 2010 commercial launch. ActaCell’s devices, which it expects to have a longer cycle life at lower costs than the competition, are based on technology developed at the University of Texas at Austin.

The company has developed a "customized thermal management solution" for "high power lithium-ion battery systems". They've developed a "phase change material" that sheaths cells. They say it protects against thermal runaway, and extends battery life.

In May 2008, Stanford University Professor of Materials Science, Dr. Yi Cui founded Amprius, Inc. based on his breakthrough research in silicon nanowires for energy storage and usage. Amprius’ immediate goals include commercialization of silicon-based anode materials with 10 times the capacity of current carbon anodes, offering an increase in cell capacity of roughly 40%.

Amprius goal is to enable batteries with a significant higher energy density, while other battery companies are focused on the power of a battery – e.g. how fast your electric car can accelerate or how powerful your electric drill is.

Amprius has developed an alternative anode made of silicon nanowires instead of carbon. Silicon can hold over 10X more lithium compared to carbon. However, even with today’s best commercially available cathode materials this does not yet result in a battery with 10X greater capacity.

I found some switched mode chargers for EV use and listing them here. I already use Iota and Progressive Dynamics chargers for 48 volt and 12 volt use on my vehicles. They work so great on 144 volt vehicle use. The caps on input are 180 WVDC and are perfect for EV use.

I have used Iota 48 volt chargers in three banks to charge my truck but using one charger is a lot better. Current is 8 amp now for water resistant charger vs 15 amp for each 48 volt pack of my 144 volt truck. The only drawback is charge times are doubled.

Each BMS is composed of several parts:
CCM :1pcs of CCM(Central Control Module).CCM is the "master" who analyse data and send commends.
