The DrainBrain V1 series both with and without speedometers is now a fully discontinued product. Many thanks go out to the loyal customers who have given excellent feedback and enabled this experiment in cottage manufacturing to be the success that it was.
Is that the end? What next?
It's been no secret that I've been working on a Version2 unit that plugs directly into the special 6-pin connector that's we've had added to the modified Crystalyte controllers sold at ebikes.ca for the past 9 months. This V2 DrainBrain has the ability to read the speed from hall effect signals rather than a spoke magnet, it implements programmable maximum speed control, offers user customization of the screen displays, and has the added capability of taking upgrade modules for such things as data logging and battery charge control. The V2 will have a beta release in early April 2007, and more information will be put up at that time.

I've finally had a chance to clear out and sort through the original DrainBrain inventory and put together quite a few units for discounted sale. well spotted Gman,

I really hope the new version can be programmed made to work with other bldc motors aswell, especially geared motors such as the currie and the BMC/Puma motors. Should be pretty easy to do, providing this option is programable

The old one appears to be sold out.

The new one they say has specialized connectors only for their own vehicles. Which should make it hard to integrate with some other vehicle....??? I've sent them an email asking for more information.

I contacted Justin at ebikes.ca asking the same thing and he said they were going to release a stand alone version that doesn't have use their controller shortly after they release the integrated one. But the V2 looks likes its going to have a lot of cool features.

And he told me they'd also have better support for other shunts .. I suppose that means the 600A model they sell through thunderstruck EV..?
