Problems with XM-4000li

For the life of me I cannot find the speed switch that is supposed to let my scooter go more than 30 MPH. It's on economy mode and I've only been able to ride it at 30 MPH. Please Help! Is it possible that the switch broke off in shipping or something? I've submitted tickets for technical support and have received no response.

Re: Problems with XM-4000li

The economy mode switch on my 4000li is attached to a wire located under the little lock box between your feet when you are riding. Incidentally, I use that compartment as a cup holder :) But open that locking compartment and you should see a wire with a switch on the end with three settings, 0, 1 and 11. It is possible the wire and switch have fallen within the recesses of the bike, so you may have to reach for it.

I tested my 4000li and in setting 1 or 11, it only goes 30mph. With the switch set to 0, it goes over 50mph. Incidentally, I am concerned about the possible overheat problem with 115 degree days in Phx AZ, so I may have to switch it back to economy mode to limit the amps to the motor. Has anyone else done this to avoid overheat on a hot day?

How much is your range ? if the range have problem too,it must be battery problem instead of throttle.

Some cell of battery broken because of bad impedance and reduce the voltage,so that reduce the speed too.

Ha! Okay found it, it was stuck in there but thanks a lot for the reply. My range is about 35-40 miles the way I ride it which is about 40-45 mph. Going uphill does a number on it too. Another problem I have now is it squeaks a lot when I brake. Anyone know why this is happening? Is it brake fluid I need or something else? Thanks in advance!

The brakes on my 4000li squeak too. I don't think it has anything to do with brake fluid. I suspect dust on the pads. When it is time to change them, maybe we can upgrade to ceramic or something? How many miles do you have on your bike? I have had mine since January and have just over 1400 miles. The thing is truly awesome. Silent. Powerful. Reliable. It is far superior to the 700li I owned previously.

On mine it is at the right thumb, so i can switch between full speed and eco.. must have the new model?

Regarding the brakes, smear some grase on the back of the brake pads, and you are good to go :)

Look under the seat, near the main breaker. I believe that's where they put it on the 3150, so yours may have it there as well.
