E-max Conversion to Thundersky LiFePO4 Cells

I've been procrastinating on writing this, but my "economy" conversion of a e-max sport to LiFePO4 power, using Thundersky LFP40AHA cells is now complete.

Replacement Batteries for EMAX ??? >>>>>>>

We all know that the EMAX scooter has a strange arrangement for the battery setup, stock at 48volts, it uses 2 banks of 4 x 17-22Ah SLA batteries and if you are running the 60volt conversion it uses 2 banks of 5 x 17-22Ah SLA's. Looking thru ThunderSky's site I saw these Lithium batteries that look like they are a DIRECT fit for the stock SLA's. Does anyone have any actual experience with these Lithium batteries ?? Let me know what you all think as I would like to do a 60volt conversion and my stock SLA batteries are down to about a 10mile range now. God Bless :)

Question for MountainChen about Emax Body

I have a 2006 Emax Sport and would like to know if the body panels off any of the other electric scooters will work on my scooter. I like the looks of the Zappino and would like to see if I can change out body panels. Let me know what you all think. God Bless :)

E-Max troubleshooting

Hello all,

I recently purchased a Jan 2006 vintage E-Max Sport. After about 10 miles of good performance, I managed to break something by attempting a standing start up a grade while overloaded. I'm a reasonably good mechanic, but don't have much experience with AC motors and electronic controllers.

Batteries

Where can replacement batteries for the old E-Max be found?

I read someone say that e-moto scooters were clones, do they use the same batteries?

E-MAX Sport 2006 Front Wheel Challenge ;-)

I recently tried to work on the front brake calipers and am not sure as to how to get that wheel to run free, it actually puts up a good amount of resistence which I can feel just turning it manually...

Anybody have experience in making the calipers open up better and letting the wheel run free again?

Thanks for your insight - my toolbox is standing by ;-)

replacement controller for Kasea ZE2000

I understand the design of the Kasea ZE2000 is the same as the E-Max. My controller lost a part while hitting some rough terrain. Is there a better controller I can bolt on? If not, where can I get a replacement? I am kind of hoping for a better controller I can buy. This is my first EV and is sort of a knowledge gathering mission. So far, I gather that Chinese production methods do not produce great quality. Some epoxy on the inside of this unit would have gone a long way.

Heads up on E-Moto stock charger

For potential buyers, the stock 48v charger that came with my E-Moto Classic has gone bad. I used it about 5 or so times then sent it to PJD once I upgraded my charging system. He got about 10 uses out of it before it broke.

Note that this is only one report and it did get shipped through standard US mail so there could be other culprits besides low manufacturing quality.

Take it for what its worth.

Cheers!

Paktrakr

A couple days ago i finally got around to putting a paktrakr on my emax to monitor my thunderskys. Ive just come across an unexpcted draw back. each of the paktrakr's remote sensors draw the operating curent (90ma) from the 1st cells, driving the pac out of balance. To counter this im leaving the charger plugged in permanently as the float current is more than 90ma. but its still having the undesired effect of causing a lower final charge voltage for the 1st 3 cells.
