Nine Continent Conversion Kit from ebike.ca

The Nine Continent conversion kit from ebike.ca has been a good upgrade from my old burned out Wilderness BD36.

This kit uses a crystalate pedel first controller, the cycle analyst computer from ebike and the best constructed hub motor that I've seen advertised online.

Compared to the Wilderness brushed BD36, this hub motor is noisier but much more efficient over the same commute. My commute to work and back is 10mi round trip and I'm getting about 2x the range out of exactly the same battery pack used on the new hub motor.

Any home made E Ped guys out there?

I first saw the Silent Scoot plans for sale then the Cheetah
plans has anybody had any success building these things?
I am working on my own design using a Sparrow kit but it looks to be a slow road for me on a $9.00 an hour budget!

Anybody have any hinter please post them! Thank You in advance.

Poll: Who's using regeneration on Golden Motors kits?

I'd love to start using it, but don't want to fry my controller, as I've read about...

Do you have a Golden Motors kit capable of regen? If so:

When did you get it?
What model, voltage, etc?
Are you using the regen?
If so, how's it going? If not, why?

My answers:
I bought my kit on eBay in October 2008.
It's 48V 500W, with a 48V 12Ah Ping battery.
I've be too afraid to enable Regen! (I live at the top of a hill.)

Any Regenerative breaking options for brushed motors?

I currently have a 36v brushed motor and would like to squeeze as many miles as possible out of my SLA batteries. I once squeezed more than 30 miles out of my 36v 36ah battery pack without any pedaling but a heck of a lot of coasting and not completly stopping. Does anyone make a controller for a brushed motor capable of recharging the batteries while coasting or pedaling?

It has to be for a brushed motor because it needs to be strong to haul heavy cargo.

I do not want to buy another Lifepo4 battery after all the trouble ive had with the one i purchased.

Building an electric trike

I live in an area that has a lot of snow during the winter, and since I have an adversion to falling on my bike because of ice as I go to the grocery store I decided to build an electric trike since I am 74 and also have an adversion to doing much peddling. At first I put all controls and batteries in the basket. I used an ecrazyman controller that I got on Ebay and a Wilderness Energy hub motor and wheel that I got from a dealer going out of business.

Here's My Plan -- Need Some Comments, Suggestions, Reality Checks, Etc. -- Thanks!

Okay, to make a short story long, I want to electrify my 1994 Gold Rush Replica recumbent bike. There are over 50,000 miles on my mistress and she and I used to spend a whole lot more time together. Alas, I'm getting old. The 20-mile one-way commute to work (with the killer hill the last three miles) is just not something I can do two to four times a week anymore. One major problem I foresee is that adding some thirty pounds will make the bike less enjoyable to ride for fun. Therefore, I'd like to be able to de-electrify it easily.

ebike (iacocca evmotors) that's been sitting a while...

hi, I have a 24v ebike (evmotors) with a rear hub drive...it has been sitting collecting dust for maybe 5 years and now doesn't seem to roll backwards...the batteries are long gone...the bike itself seems in great shape...it needs a new chain at most, but i'm not sure if i want to invest in new batteries to get it on the road...is this a common problem when the motors havent run for a while? and is it worth trying to fix?
thanks

Choosing new battery for 36v ebike (Lee Iacocca bike)

Last week I bought a used 2004 36v ebike from Craig's list. The goal is to use this for errands around home and for commuting to work, approximately 16 miles round trip (with one relatively steep hill). I can charge it at home and at work. When I bought the bike I was told it had new batteries. As it turns out, they died after less than five miles with moderate pedaling (I have no idea what these batteries are - just something taped together and put inside the battery holder). Any chance I did something wrong here (should I be running this on E or P??)?
