ebike commuting again

Hello, I haven't been ebiking since October, around when the time changed. I found that I really, really didn't enjoy riding in the dark. Now that time has changed, and there is light for others to see me by, I got the motivation to get my ebike fixed, and ride to work. I gave up riding at the last rear flat. And the time was dark in the am. And, also, on that same day, I received my first batch of green manna food. I enjoyed the good feeling to the body and mind derived from pedaling creating increased oxygenation of my organic system.

Converting my bike... ecospeed vs crystalite?

Hey everyone, first post on the forum!

I have a Sun EZ1-SX recumbent bicycles (modded by the previous owner with 20" wheels... used to have a 16" front wheel), full fairing, and a few other addons... I got it specifically to convert to an electric setup.

I'll be purchasing an electric conversion kit pretty soon - and I've narrowed my choices down to ecospeed (ecospeed.net) or the crystalite Phoenix Racer (www.electricrider.com, and RSDistributers).

D'oh! Just destroyed my Crystalyte motor... and my bike

A while ago I bought a Trek 7.2 FX (steel fork, aluminum frame, and yes the fork passes the magnet test) and slowly converted it with the "Phoenix Racer" (Crystalyte X-5) kit from electricrider.com. I finally got it working and functional late last night and took it for a very brief nighttime ride, though I barely used the motor and mostly pedalled since it was dark and I had no reflectors, let alone lights! Also I wanted to see how easy it was going manual, and it turned out to be effortless.

Finally reached a conclusion to my Charger Bicycle saga

This saga began over a year ago when I thought "hey, it would be trivial to add an adapter to allow plugging in an extra battery pack to my charger bicycle and get more range" .. unfortunately I didn't count on the Trickster smiling upon me in the form of toasting the controller board. That led to a complete reconfiguration of the control system and replacing the bottom bracket which required surgery to the chainring etc.

The Joys of Winter EBiking

The Bike: Electra Townie 21
Pedal forward design keeps your feet close to the ground in case of trouble. With lots of ice and snow trouble abounds. My favorite trick for sheets of ice is to place both feet on the ground and use the throttle to push slowly over it. No turning! I have a better success rate with this than trying to walk across the same ice.

X-treme XB-500/508 Electric Moped Information--Got any?

I am looking for a 2nd electric bike. My first is an eGO, which my wife uses all the time...leaving me with zilch. My choices are to buy a pedal-bike and fit it with an electric hub motor....but then I saw the X-treme bike/scooters advertised on ebay, etc. Does anyone have any reliable information on them? The seller/dealer tells me they are made in China and he will stand behind them for warranty, though the warranty is not long term...plus, for me, it means driving 200 miles RT to fetch this rascal since it is freighted to a dock in Phoenix.
