XB 500 HUB WIRE SHORTED

I HAVE A XB 500 THE WIRE TO THE BACK TIRE/HUB WORE THRU AND SHORTED OUT/BURNT WIRES INSIDE SO I SPLICED THEM TOGETHER AND GOT POWER TO WHEEL BUT ONLY FOR 3-5 SECONDS AT A TIME FROM THROTTLE-LET UP AT IT WILL GO 3-5 SECOND AGAIN IF WHELL IS STILL SPINNING-THEN JUST SHUTS DOWN AGAIN--ANY HELP-CONTROLLER-MOTER?????THKS

You might want to post Q's on the general X-Treme electric bike forum to get more responses.
That said, my first thought is about what damage happened further upstream after the short. Since X-Treme is pretty good about spare parts, I'd order a new controller. If there's no change in operation, you'll at least have a second good controller once you track the real problem.
