Basics of electrical circuits

Electric current is the continuous flow of electrons through a conducting material (like a copper wire). Electrons are invisible so their operation might seem mysterious. It might be good to think of an electrical wire as being similar to a pipe, and electrons similar to water droplets flowing through the pipe.
