Evader battery conditioning

My new Evader scooter has a 48V, 45AH battery pack, and after a winter of seldom-use, the range on my scooter was about 26 miles. I have been conditioning the battery pack by 1) installing powercheqs to equalize charging, and 2) by using a two part charging process. For the first part, I use the stock 8A charger because it charges the scooter up pretty fast. I then disconnect the stock charger and connect my Soneil 48V, 3.5A charger. This charger seems to top off the pack better than the stock charger, since it is in charge mode for several hours after the stock charger says the pack is fully charged. After two such charging cycles, I did a range test yesterday and the range improved to 33 miles over varying terrain.

I will continue this conditioning process and report on whether any further improvement is achieved.

Re: Evader battery conditioning

Well, my range is now up to 35-40 miles, which is what I calculate I should get from this battery pack on this scooter. I think the Powercheqs and my charging regimen has saved my battery pack. Interestingly, the Soneil 48V charger charges the pack to 57.6V, higher than almost all other 48V chargers.
