Vectrix actually shipping?

I noticed today that a Vectrix dealer here in Washington says they have one on site for test drives. I have to say I was very skeptical about this product ever hitting the market. I realize they don't actually have any on the lot that you can drive home today, but I'm amazed they've received their demo bike. I hope they (Vectrix) make it, and have some successors follow their lead...

Well the price stayed the same. Retail Price $11,000, not including tax, registration, freight or delivery charges.

My question is will they honor the price of about $2000.oo for the people on their waiting list. If so I'll be getting one soon I hope. scratch_head_thinking.gif

Glad it's the weekend aren't you? This is the Vertrix, not the Z20. I know you have very deep pockets, but you'll need about another $8000.00 plus sell everything in the Barn.

Seems Jerome is going to do a Mini Road Test of the Vectrix 6-18-07.
While there be sure to read his article After 7 Years of Service, We are at a Crossroads!
I'll also post it in the Advocacy Forum for discussion.

Re: Vectrix actually shipping?

In defense of Vectrix, the $11,000 price tag is comparable to or less than what people are paying for a lot of motorcycles. No it won't go as fast or far, but Vectrix is betting that it's urban-yuppie buyers are seeking a different "cachet" than a chromed-up Harley buyer.

Re: Vectrix actually shipping?

I saw a Vectrix at the Brighton farmers market last Sunday (June 7th) in Rochester, NY. Owner claimed he got it from a dealer in Kentucky. There is a dealer in Syracuse supposedly. I am not sold on this company. Took 11 years to bring out the first product...

I actually looks more like it is definitely NOT here any more by now!

But there are many new VX1 standing around at dealers, waiting for buyers still!

Amazing that people are still buying them with the company as it is. I know I wouldn't. I will ride it until it breaks and donate it to a motorcycle museum just to get it out of my sight.

As a broken but highly treasured vehicle with the promise of what could have been, just it sitting in my garage will just taunt me too much, especially if it's just a silly failure. I mean, even a blown fuse would ground me, and I've already had that happen.

That's because only a few know in what position the company is. Those few are us, in this forum.

You have a point. I suppose I erroneously assume anyone with a V is on here, but of course that can't be true. At least I hope they sold a few more than there are members here, LOL!

Re: Vectrix actually shipping?

I think all of you are forgetting that we are at the begining of the "Ev Era", im sure, even if Vectrix dissapears other brands will come and we will have new specialists which will be able to repair those new Electric bikes and the old ones like Vectrix. Although i do agree that if the Vecs stop working now it will have to wait a bit until someone other than Vectrix, can repair it. Its like having a Ford Model T in the year 1910, im sure 5 or 10 years after that, anyone other than Ford could repair it!!!

Yes that would be a nice thing to look forward to. Maybe I'll loan my V to a museum and not donate, that way I can ask for it back when there is a generic EV repair infrastructure in place. :-) Happy thoughts.

Re: Vectrix actually shipping?

Do not be so pessimistic. We have experience from the Sparrow and Kewet bankruptcy where other companies bought the stock and continued production. Similarly the Th!nk vehicles have been able to obtain parts even after Ford withdrew from the ev market.

Re: Vectrix actually shipping?

Do not be so pessimistic.

I think what it is, is we adore our Vectrix's so much that we can't imagine life without them now, so there is an air of despondency about the possibility of their lives ending soon.

At the risk of sounding like a sad old git, I love the ride, the concept, the look, the looks you get, the questions asked, the looks of amazement/puzzlement as you whine by, and on and on!

What a loss if this goes the way of many other EVs after so much effort and thought has gone into it. I came out of a shop today and 3 generations of a family had stopped to see me ride off, which I did with a good show of....how did Mik put it?.....EV advocacy. :-)

I don't think I'm alone. I've had a few new bikes in my time, but the honeymoon period has never lasted as long as with this one.

Re: Vectrix actually shipping?

Nice words, Simon. Yes i think we are a getting pesimistic with Vectrix, althoug as i posted in another topic, they just did the presentation of the Vx-2 in Barcelona. In the other hand the Vectrix website seems to be disapearing, it hasnt updated since March and the Press section doesnt even work.
I am waiting for a gearbox replacement with my fingers crossed! If it comes i might be more even more optimistic than now.
We just have to enjoy as much as it dures.

Yes, it does feel a little like that, it's the second time for me.......are the many BMW C1s left where you are? They're getting scarce and collectable here in London. I have a still running example in great condition.

To tell you the truth, i do see quuite a few C1´s. It was quite succesfull here, specially for buissness men, i even have a friend who has one and uses it everyday. Even if if they are not making them anymore, there is support for aftersales.

Yes, true, as I understand it, European vehicle manufacturers have to support an obsolete vehicle for a minimum of 7 years. No problem for BMW to do this as they are still a viable company, unlike............
