Anyone ever used one of these

http://www.pingbattery.com/servlet/the-8/36V-10AH-V2.5-LiFePO4/Detail

This is a link to a website for a 36V 10A/h battery with a free 2.5A charger for $289.00

That is cheap enough for me to get one and experiment on setting up parallel batteries.

It does seem to good to be true so I am wondering if anyone knows anything about them.

Re: Anyone ever used one of these

Yeah, pingbattery has a good reputation. I have three of his packs bought last year and they're doing well. Actually I have a spare 10ah pack that I'm not using and could sell you cheap if you like.

Some things to pay close attention to are:-

- Shipping cost from China is pretty high. Plus the warranty situation is sketchy for a vendor in China. There are vendors in the U.S. selling similarly sized packs at lower shipping costs and probably a better warranty support situation.

- The maximum amp capacity of that pack is pretty low. If your power requirements are low then you'll be okay. The behavior of this pack is when the current draw goes above a limit built into the BMS, the BMS shuts off the pack and it doesn't matter whether you're riding in traffic jamming the throttle to avoid being hit by a car, the battery pack will shut off. Ping's 15ah pack has a higher amp capacity (which is why I'm not using my 10ah pack but am instead using the 15ah pack).

- The duct tape enclosure may look chintzy but it is effective. He sure is expert with duct tape.

Thanks - I was planning on getting the 15Ah myself - did not know about it until after I made the first post.

Are you using the 15Ah or 10 Ah on a Bionx?

No, it's on my bicycle that has a wilderness energy kit installed.
