Hi; I'm from America, doing graduate work at University of Oxford. I want to get ahold of an electric bike that goes a bit faster than 15mph. I know the legal implications. Can anyone direct me to any custom builder, distributor, etc...?
Thanks.

Ive decided to build another electric bike, but im having trouble sourcing parts. Mainly batteries and motors. Ive been looking at Crystalyte's solutions, but I was wondering if anyone else knew of a better place to shop? The bike im building isnt supposed to be for transportation, but for fun, like a dirtbike, so it needs speed, not so much torque. Ive been looking at LiFePo4 batteries to power the thing, and a standard mountain bike as a host to all the parts. While I do have access to a metalshop to modify and build, id rather not use it if i dont have to.

I was thinking of using one of the motor kits from heliobikes.com on one of the Landrider autobikes. It would be the ultimate lazy persons electric bike. Also I think it would help the rider by selecting the appropriate gear to use for pedal assist.

I have a 350watt, max 7oowatt hub motor from an LX1 electric bike. The frame broke and I'm stuck with spare parts. Has anyone thought of attaching a fixed gear to the freewheel thread and using the hub motor like a chain drive? I was thinking of doing this because if anyone else has had this experience they know that the motor is too wide to fit in the dropouts on any bike. Trust me I've looked. I was thinking of running a chain from it to one of the larger least used gears on the rear wheel.

Hi,
Newbe here, I have this motor and want to run a 48V 1000 Watt or 48V 1500 Watt controller with hall sensor and I'm not sure which way to go? Also both of the controllers have a hall sensor in them but so does the motor so its a 3 part question.
1. Is over volting to 1000 or 1500 watt to much for this motor?
2. If there is a hall sensor in the motor can you also have a hall sensor on the controller?
3. What could happen with the 2 questions above?

Not sure if this is the correct forum. Assumed custom build could be for batteries. My question is this, could two separate, already assembled, in their own cases lithium packs be wired together to run in series or parallel? Basically what I want to do is run both power connections from the packs into some kind of "Y" adapter into the single power connection on the controller. This way I could either use them at the same time for more power or individually for more range. My main concern would be any kind of electrical feedback between the batteries which could result in shorting them out.

I'm thinking about building an e-bike with two motors, both on the rear & front wheels, or front motor and & chain drive motor together.
I'm still gathering information. Does anyone have heard about someone doing such a project? Do you have links?
