Folks,
Thank you all for the valuable information posted on this forum. I could really use some help with a couple of lashout scooters that are out of commission at the moment. I have 3 non-functional motors that either came with the scooters or were sent as replacement. I tried a few things on each of the motors and am guessing the problems are from the internal controllers. Here are the details for the motors:
Motor 1 - Stopped working within a week of getting the scooters. Replacement fuse did not help. After some debugging the Ebay seller concluded that the controller was toast and sent me a new motor.
Motor 2 - Blown fuse within 3 months. Replaced the fuse, but everytime it is powered on the motor/controller start to smoke.
Motor 3 - Blown fuse within 3 months. Replacement fuses pop as soon as powered on.
I tried various combinations of motors, scooters and connections and they were all the same. Any thoughts? Obviously replacement motors will be too expensive. Anyone has more detailed instructions on how to remove the internal controller? I can try the heat gun and boiling water, but additional infromation and wiring diagram will really help.
Thank you in advance.
Ray
Without exact details of how it fails, or when it fails its kinda hard to say.
Sounds like motor failure from over heating. Try adding heat sinks and thermal grease to
make better thermal connections.
Perhaps you can mount this motor, http://www.electricscooterparts.com/kollmorganinfo.html on your unit if you search v is for voltage forum for
reversing the direction of rotation of the motor.

Do you know what kind of motor your Lashout is using?
Do you know if the controller is built into the motor?
If you're not sure, you could post a picture of the motor.
E-bikes support a simple lifestyle. They're easy to use; just flip a switch to get a gentle, but firm, push. They save time in two ways: 1) For errands up to a mile and on some congested commutes, e-bikes are quicker than the car; 2) Their low cost means you work fewer hours supporting them. The pace of life slows a bit while riding an electric bike. Stress goes down, enjoyment of life goes up. Fun happens!
Motor scooters are inexpensive transportation solutions if you travel less than thirty miles a day. They are capable of being powered by gasoline or an electric battery. Electric motor scooters have a few advantages over gasoline scooters.
