This seems almost ideally suited to ebiking. The weight, a little over 9 pounds (4.2 kg), will probably be a big turn-off to roadies and mountain-bikers alike. For us what's a few extra pounds when you've got a motor helping? Since the CVT must go on the rear hub the motor options are limited to chain-driven or front hub.
On the other hand on an ebike the advantage of a CVT is watered down a bit. I never stress too much about getting exactly the right gear.
