Environment and Climate Change

Greenland is melting, the polar bears are an endangered species, the seas are heating up, the sky isn't falling yet so not all is lost.

RADIO ECOSHOCK: BUILDING MADNESS Constructing Climate Change

Here's an interesting podcast I just listened to. They focus on peak oil, they predict the world oil peak to be in 2012, and they call for revolutionary change in how people and stuff are moved around. The point out that a huge percentage of oil/energy use is for freight transport and that most people thinking about changing transportation systems ignore freight transport.

"Too hot to Handle"

Against the Grain is a radio program on Pacifica station KPFA, and this was aired in May. Colin Duncan is an environmental historian in Canada and the interview is talking about rapid climate change which will cause huge expense and upheaval to the next generation. He is calling for a drastic change, to hugely cease using fossil fuel and invest in alternatives.

Global Warming happening NOW!

Here's a cute little graphical toy to help some get a better grasp around this whole global warming thing:

Climate Time Machine: http://climate.jpl.nasa.gov/ClimateTimeMachine/climateTimeMachine.cfm

It's designed for NASA... not sure if their credentials are worthy.

Global Warming to be put off for fifty years.

So this just showed up in the news. The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting that the climate will be getting cooler for the next fifty years. They use the Sun and ocean temperatures to get their predictions.

Last year, the Almanac correctly predicted "above-normal" snowfall in the Northeast — an understatement — and below-normal snowfall in the mid-Atlantic states.

Stupid me, I thrown out all my winter clothes because of the coming Global Warming :)

What is this Planet worth?

OK, now it's down to how much is going to cost me?

People are not going to give up there barbecued ribs over GW, now if it's cheaper to do nothing, why not? This article in the heraldsun says it all, Australia may decide to screw the planet to save a few bucks.

Tunguska Event.

So surfing around I ran into to this theory. Some Russian scientist says Global Warming was caused by the Tungus Meteorite disturbing the upper atmosphere. He says that water vapor/ice crystals are a much more powerful GW gas and human activities are not the cause.

Where's the Beef?

So who is going to stop eating meat to save the planet? Any volunteers?

The UNIPOCC is recommending that we should stop eating meat, what, now we have to be Vegans too. No oil, no gas and now it's Lima beans and spinach for dinner.

Let the planet fry, where's my Wendy's Baconator, six slices of bacon on it. Two patties. Two slices of cheese. Yum yum :)
