Environment and Climate Change

Greenland is melting, the polar bears are an endangered species, the seas are heating up, the sky isn't falling yet so not all is lost.

Who's really serious about GW?

So I was down at my X's post office today, this is where she works. We were dropping breakfast goodies off for some party they were going to have Monday morning. They start working like 3:00 AM, I would hate to have to get up early enough for that job. She works in the building where they sort (I have seen them throw packages, so always pack everything like it was going to be kicked off the back of a truck) mail and packages. This building is like 5,000 square feet and uninsulated. When I walked in I noticed how nice and cool it was, it was pretty warm outside.

Oil Companies soon to be out of business?

I was reading about the Chevy Volt, it's supposed to come out in 2010. Runs 40 miles without gasoline, which is supposed to handle 75% of peoples driving. The other major auto manufactures are supposed to be working on their own versions. If these cars perform and sell, could we be looking at the phaseout of gasoline over the next 10 to 20 years?

Make the Switch, Repower America

We all know our country faces tough challenges; a weaker economy, soaring gas prices, growing dependence on foreign oil, and a worsening climate crisis.

But, what many of us don't know is that there's a bold new solution to all these challenges. We can switch to cleaner, smarter forms of power and take advantage of free energy sources like wind and sun. We can boost our economy, create new jobs, and improve our national security.

Solar to Save Us

Last April on Radio Ecoshock (links below) they broadcast a very very interesting interview with Nate Lewis about climate change issues. Especially he talked about honest science regarding carbon & global warming ..

Among the things he said ... repeating as well as I can ... It doesn't take a rocket scientist to recognize that when you burn oil, that the carbon in the oil goes somewhere.

It's well known science the amount of CO2 (and other gasses) that are emitted from a car burning gasoline or other ways of burning oil. e.g. the 'smog check' methods are one way of showing what gasses are emitted by burning gasoline.

It's also well known how much oil (gasoline etc) is being burned across the country and to some extent it's well known how much is being burned worldwide.

It's also known how much carbon (and other gasses) are building up in the atmosphere.

It's also known that the carbon buildup matches the amount of oil being burned.

Therefore the carbon buildup is directly attributable to human activity.. not cows farting, not volcanos, but to humans burning fossil fuel oil.

He did admit it's not a 100% proved thing that the carbon buildup absolutely will cause a warming of the environment. He did point out that with 700,000 yrs of data (e.g. from ice core data) it's well known that every time CO2 concentration was high in the atmosphere it was matched by high temperatures on the planet. And that the CO2 levels we're heading towards are much higher than any recorded time in that 700,000 yrs.

New XM3k: $7500.00

I know $7500 seems like a lot to pay for the XM3k - I assure you we're doing everything we can to bring the price down. We're taking the profits and using them to find other suppliers who may be able to give us a better deal, effectively passing on the savings to you, our customers. Right now the demand for the XM3k is surpassing the supply. We've informed our suppliers that they need to ramp up production of all exports to help balance this crisis.
