In the past I used to race my electric scooter with the gasser crowd. About 5 years ago they decided to handicap the electrics by having the race run on historic Route 66 for 50 miles in Arizona. With the (4) PC680 AGM batteries I only had a range of 6 miles, but because of the power of the Etek motor, figured I would have no problem towing a 500 lb battery trailer with (6) 8 volt, 165 a/hr, flooded golf cart batteries.
I am new so if I have done this wrong forgive me. I just recently built a small trailer to carry a second battery pack. after my test run I found that pulling it was so easy, I decided to test the bike on just the power pack on the trailer so I removed the pack from the bicycle and now I may never go back to the bike mounted power pack,
My grocery hauler is a Townie 21, front-hub motor, and panniers. I can fit 3+ bags (cloth bags, natch) of groceries if I take along a back pack. This is pretty good but still I find myself a little short of space. (If I get an extra quart of milk will everything still fit?) Also if I put more than 30lbs or so into the panniers the handling gets more than a little squirrelly. This spring I went looking for a trailer to up the cargo capacity and maximum weight load.
