I am having problems with my current set up. I need to upgrade to something a bit better and more "Name Brand".
my set up i have now glitches and bumps a LOT!
Due to the second hand controller that I got from a "nameless".com store that looked like they were ripped out of old return bikes, I never got the bike past even 40mph this time? Three controllers from that place and the same thing happens either it wont torn on or it failed while in use or after a bit of riding. Nuff to say i am kinda let down by all this, I know what i am doing and have all the tools to track down the problems. This brings me to another Point, Now after all the controller problems I now have a motor problem That i now believe was caused from constant controller failure. My brushes seem to be cutting the commutator a bit. This would be caused from a controller dumping full power into the motor in short bursts at high amps. Right?
things to help fix problem:
"Better" controllers to be used with this "new motor":
1) Curtis 1204-00XX controller to use now that some one let me test with.
2) Navitas TSP200 controller that should be here any day now.

Should i get a Navitas TSP100 for it's small size, this one will fit better in my bike as well. Does any one know if it can handle 48 volts.... I would like to know this before i place my next order. Any input would be greatly needed right now, I am ordering today or tomorrow from the site up top.

I had to, I am in the works on a business plan right now and my advisers told me to. I am sorry, I had to do that. I don't want to speak of their name, ("nameless.com")I think it would be unfair of me to promote their company any more! Even though they did try to fix the problem, by sending me a totally bad controller that was to be an exchange for a semi non-working controller. To top that off the replacement controller they sent me to cover for that one bit the dust in 4 rides! After dumping a couple hundred into there used products I feel like i was shammed! That in its self pissed me off to the highest end!! PM me on you tube if you really want to know who they are.

The motor looks like the one from a Currie I-zip 1000. If it's the same motor, they're pretty good motors with rare-earth magnets. It's run stock at 36V, but Mr. electric tried running one at 48v and it really goes. I'm not sure what the stock current rating is, but I'd guess it will take around 40 amps.
On Nick's scooter, he tried a cheap controller with no current limiter, which make the thing almost impossible to ride. Instant wheelies. He had to add a limiter to tame it down. For short bursts, the motor appears to handle extremely high currents.
Like any motor, if you give it too much it will smoke. It does look like a decent size for a pocket bike.

No, not exactly. I'm pretty sure it's the same size as my BMC brushless motor.

You really should just try and get it through currie as a replacement. I remember seeing that motor online for an outrageous price (here it is: http://www.electricvehiclesusa.com/product_p/ki-sd-1000w.htm). For this price get a free frame, junk controller, and wheels because you could just buy an Izip at that price.
I have the schwinn version but has the same motor. I am currently running a peak of 130 amps into my motor at about 33 volts. I actually just recently dismantled the motor and it is holding up great; Brushes were in good shape and no physical damages. The motor case states it rated at 32 amps.
Could you tell me where the Currie web site is for replacement parts?
