Looking for brushless hub motor/ replacment vehicle

I recently chewed up my transmission once again in my schwinn s1000, I guess it doesn't really like 3300 watts peak. So now I am looking for a new electric vehicle to enjoy. I am planing on keeping my 33 volt 8ah a123 pack so what ever I get needs to work with that.

What I need guys is advice on what I can get to get into the hub motor arena. Everything I see seems to be so dang expensive for so little output power. I basically want something that is around 500 watts, brushless, built wheel, and around 350 or less . The closest thing I have seen is the clearance brushless wheels from WE: 400 watt brushless, with wheel, controller, throttle for 211. Has anyone tried their brushless motors and have a little feed back on them?

Does anyone know if you can use the crystalyte controllers on these wheels for a future upgrade?

I also was thinking about splurging and running a 4 series crystalyte hub motor on 20 amp controller at 66 volts, would this perform well or just burn up?

I personally really like the idea of the http://www.cyclone-usa.com kits but ran into the problem of their 24 volt system and don't know that they can handle the extra voltage because of the internal controller.

Heck I know I'm rambling but throw out some idea or answer some of my questions if you can I'll be around. Thanks!

Hi magudaman,

Sounds like the 36V (or 48V, depending on your controller)/2000W Crystalyte Phoenix Cruiser motor would be a good fit for your pack. The price point is at $399 for a 26 inch front wheel.

Available here from Bernson EV: http://www.bernsonev.com/crystalyte-parts-c-36.html

And here from Electric Rider: http://www.electricrider.com/crystalyte/parts.htm

Cheers,

Yah that would be a great system to use but by the time I end up with a full working kit: Controller, throttle, wiring harness, ect. I am at around 500 minimum cost and that is just out of my budget.
