E-Max range ???

What is the average range for a new E-Max with new fresh batteries ?? I know that there are a lot of factors, that is why I asked for average. Has anyone measured and remember what they were getting as the max range when their E-Max was new ?? The reason I asked is that I bought my 2006 E-Max Sport used late last year and have been driving it around on short trips ever so often. Today I wanted to see how far I could take it. So I went for a ride, it took about an hour mostly stop and go stuff, NEVER using the TURBO button, and about 80% of the time maxing it out at a speedometer indicated 35mph, of course it is probably off a bit. I measured approx. 21 miles and my battery meter was in the red and still able to go about 30mph max. I am guessing that I probably could have pushed it another 2-3 miles. God Bless :)

Re: E-Max range ???

I could get 27 miles on my Emax when it was new with some range to spare. It had just started to tail off when I sold it at about the 400 mile mark. The buyer reported severe range reduction after about 1500 miles. He replaced the original batteries with ordinary SLA and reported the result as "better than new". I don't think he did any range testing with the new batteries, however.

My speedometer was off by about 11%. A reading of 35mph was really about 31mph, but it's not like you're going to have to worry about speeding tickets much. :-)

Enjoy the new ride! I certainly had a blast with mine. Watch out for bicyclists, though. They won't hear you coming.

Re: E-Max range ???

The E-max range with the stock silicone batteries is very dependent on temperature and terrain. With the stock "silicone" batteries, over a course that that was hilly, including a 500 ft up hill early, then mostly flat until virtually un rideable, I got 29 miles, but I could not have climbed much of a hill over the last 10 miles.

I have not tried an absolute mileage attempt with the new (BB EB20-12 VRLA) batteries, but they seem to be at least as good.

With the addition of the 20 AH booster battery and intermittent use at 60 volts, there seems to be a significant increase in range - this seems to be mostly due to usability on hills at a low state of charge. I haven't measures the absolute range, but with the booster battery, it is ridable at good speeds, (25 to 40 mph) even up steep hills at 22 miles.

Re: E-Max range ???

The problem with explaining absolute EV range remains the very-qualitative terrain issue.

I suspect E-max owners in cities like Chicago actually do get the advertised 30-40 miles on a charge without even thinking about it, but here in Pittsburgh, I always have to carry a topo map in my mind when figuring if I can make a trip on a single charge.

Re: E-Max range ???

The longest trip I have ever made was 50 km, but I think I could have gone another 10.

50 km= 31 miles
60 km= 37 miles

It's prett flat around here and I weigh 65 kg.
