It would be interesting to find out what the lithium upgrade cost. I am a little dubious about how "super efficient" that motor can be with an E-max style battery pack and less than emax specs. I am very dubious about Greensaver batteries. There is still no domestic source, their quality control blows, and I swear the next person who claims these batteries are environmentally benign is going to have to eat one to prove it.

The 30 miles/hr max is probably because (in California) it makes it a moped and has lesser license requirements. Many scooter makers also use the 30 miles/hr max.

If Mountain Chen is correct about Zapino having samples of his 3000 Watt Lithium Power then that's a whole different area. I need to confirm the: Max Speed : 110 Km/h (110 kilometer/hour = 68.350 831 146 mile/hour ) that seems kind of high to me.

This is frequently the case with under 50cc scooters in most states. Many of these scooters are restricted to this speed limit with slugs in the exhaust and/or some sort of electrical or mechanical rev restriction.
As a pretty serious scooter enthusiast, I can say with some authority that it took importers and distributors a while to learn that there is a real market for higher cc scooters in the US. In around 2000 when you started seeing more scooters brought in to the US, most were 50s. Their reasoning was that most potential consumers didn't want to be hassled with getting a motorcycle license. People who wanted something larger would opt for a motorcycle. This reasoning turned out to not be so accurate.
I'm still waiting for a proper electric scooter, one that would have the speed and performance capabilities of a normal (non-50cc) scooter. Current Vespas are sold as 50cc (two stroke), 150, 200 and 250. (The latter three all use four cycle engines.) I see way more Vespa ET4s and LX150 than the equivalent 50cc versions.
Realistically I will be happy with an electric scooter that is equivalent to a derestricted 50. My personal preference would be to sacrifice a lot of range for good acceleration and a higher top speed. If I could find a scooter with with a real range of maybe 15 miles and a real top speed of 40 I'd buy it.
It would be interesting to know if the Zapino could actually go faster.

I have to agree with you. It's my understanding Zaapino currently has a sample of a 3000 Watt from Erato that will do 49 mph max.
There is also a 10,0000 Watt on the horizon, especially made for export to Europe and the USA.

The XM-2000 does that right now. In fact, it does a bit better than that. My commute to work is exactly 7.5 miles each way, and I get home still in the green zone on the remaining charge indicator. I don't have a GPS, but I blend in quite well with cars going 40+ MPH, so I'm reasonably sure I'm doing something around that speed.
So, that's available now for about $1500.
Now, this Zapino at 3000 Watts would undoubtedly have better acceleration, which would be huge benefit. And the quality sounds really good too. Lithium would be a plus, nobody doubts that. Just get rid of that 30 MPH restricter.
And is it the way the picture was taken or does the Zapino seem kinda small? Maybe the lady in the other picture from the Zapino testride is tall....

That's amazing, a couple of questions, your weight, road level or any inclines, can you have a car pace you if you don't have GPS, or total miles in how much time non stop for a open stretch of road.
I'd get a speeding ticket here on most Streets other than the main drags where the speed limit is 35 MPH, every where else it's 25 mph.

Am I correct, your in CA and had no problem getting it registered? Have you tried any of those famous Frisco hills yet?
Seems like you got a pretty good deal, and probably very lucky. I'm still very reluctant to spend that much on anything from X-Treme, until I read more positive statements like yours.

I weigh 210 lbs. The streets are relatively flat here in Sacramento. Little nudges here and there, but no hills. The speed limit for most of my route is 35 MPH. To confirm the exact distance, I mapquested and local.googled the exact route I take (by the way, local.google.com has this awesome little dragging capability that you can use to modify your route to go exactly the way you want).
My wife paced me in her car the first day I got the XM-2000 and said I got into the late 30's on the little stretch of road that I did the test on. The XM-2000 is obviously slowest (for me) at takeoff. Traffic is most likely to want to go around me at only that point. That's why I'd like to shed some pounds and improve that area. But once it's in high gear (past 20-25 MPH) it doesn't seem to have any problems accelerating throughout the 30's and 40's, even with me on it.
I'm gonna have to find me a skinny person to road test it for me to see if my diet plans will bear fruit. My wife would fit, but she's scared of going fast.
As for registration, following John in Ann Arbor, I sent in registration as a moped. Got insurance for it too, no problem there. Still waiting to see what X-Treme does about the MSO and the VIN tags though, gotta admit that.

Yep - I second kringle. My XM-2000 tops out at about 43mph and has a range of at least 22 miles. Probably more - I was concerned about the charger and haven't fully charged my batteries yet. My worries were unfounded (apparently you should ignore the documentation :? ) I'm gonna fully charge them tonight and commute to work tomorrow (12 miles one way - but I'll charge it when I'm there - so that I can let all my friends try it out ;) )
Later this week I will hook up my GPS (actually (a) find it & (b) charge it) and go for a ride.
I'm 150lbs and there are some moderate hills where speed drops below 30mph. Like kringle it's acceleration up into the 30s when people want to pass you. Once up to speed I don't hold up traffic on anything but 45mph (and above) roads.
I registered mine as a moped by going into the Secretary of State and saying "I want to register my moped". They accepted a signed bill of sale which had the VIN as supplied on it. I'm not sure what the exact issue with the VIN is. Unless they all have the same one? (Kringle - I'll send you a message and I'll show you mine if you show me yours ;-) ) The VIN all checks out in terms of an appropriate manufacturer, year, check-digit and serial number. The MSO is a different story - I hope X-treme can sort that one out soon.

I just got my Zapino, and absolutely love it. I've gone on two 23 mile trips, much of it at around 40 MPH, with nearly the maximum load (about 270 lbs) on mostly level ground. This is my first motorized bike of any kind, but it's such a blast to ride that I'm looking for excuses to take it out.
A longer range would be great - I'll try the Lithium batteries at some point I'm sure - but otherwise my only complaint is that I won't be able to take my kids on it for long because our combined weight is approaching the limit too quickly. [For the record, only they are growing :-)].

No need to compare ZAPINO with E-max battery problem.
E-max use 8pcs 20AH battery complicated in series and parallel to compose 48V,their max current on boost button is 90A,big damage to 20AH battery.
ZAPINO use 60V big battery system,max current only 55A,less damage to silicon battery.
They come from different silicon battery supplier. see photo

1) What is the weight and the amp hours of the Lithium configuration you show? I notice that you've filled almost the entire space that were used by the lead acid configuration
2) What is the cost of the Lithium configuration you show?
3) Am I right in guessing you are using cells from Thundersky? (based on the visuals only)
4) What does the speed control switch do? Does it apply limits in the controller or does it change the power characteristics of the motor? Or does it change gearing?

I have been riding a Zapino for the last three weeks. It is my first scooter, and I think it is great.
I ride approx 4km to work and back every day in Charlottesville, Va. I would certainly recommend it.
(1) However, Mountain Chen's claim that the switch changes between 30 and 45MPH does not fit my experience.
In my experience, on flat ground, the low switch limits the speed to 22MPH and the high-speed switch allows
it to go up to 32 MPH. The distance meter on my Zap seems to be counting kilometers, so perhaps Mountain Chen was
quoting KMs.
(2) Perhaps there is a limiter which can be removed to achieve those speeds. If so, can you please let me know how to
do that?
(3) The battery meter on the bike consists of 4 LEDs. I consider this a poor measure of the charge left in the scooter. After approx 1 week, the first three of these lights no longer seem to work. The bike, however, seems to have a charge and travels far enough. I measured the 5 batteries, and noticed that after a full charge (as indicated by the charger), 4 of them are at 13.3v while the 5th one is at 13.1v. There are no battery balancers in the bike. How can I fix the situation?

Glad you like the bike. As far as #3 goes do a search on PowerCheq or BattEq on this site. Both these products are designed to balance your batteries. One one battery is out of balance it can have a domino effect and ruin all batteries in the string.
I use the PowerCheq's on my bike (4 x $60 = $240). Kringle777 has just ordered the BattEQ product for his bike (a 5 battery system for $199).

take care of Wisking,they just cheating from sample charge,they have nothing.... you may ask them to send Video or photo to confirm....also Dymo testing sheet to find out what is 10000W ,they maybe say about 200000W to attract people's eyeball..
Act as QC of ZAP,I went to Wisking half a year before,they just 3 samples modified from 500W scooter,very bad quality and no production,no VIN number .....no allow to visit workshop where is nothing actually.
Wisking just like Evader 2 years before.... cheating a lot but nothing on market.
They hurt a lot of unprofessional clients in this field.

I think what you bought is the climbing version ZAPINO on which we reduce the RPM (speed) of copper winding inside motor to increase the torque,consider the steepy road on Sanfancisco.
We have another speed version which is more RPM,top speed could reach 73km/H on flat road,but less torque than scooter in your hand.
Re Digital Battery Indicator,since this is first DBI panel,the quality is not stable,I think it is LED light connecting problem.We will take care and improve it !
Unlike voltage meter,BDI don't drop when you full throttle accelerating.
