I really hoped to see many more comments to Jerome's Where Do We Go From Here? article about the crossroads for ESW and the Industry.

Impact of the $11,000 Vectric Scooter?
Forsen's upcoming 36v 30 mph mini-electric scooter?
Is this the year for the EVTAmerica Z20?
Is Japan, Inc. watching and preparing to pounce?
Will China move from cheap, quick, and dirty towards a superior manufacturing and QA?
Who in Taiwan will make the major breakthrough in price, performance, and quality?
Will the electric bike ever be embraced by the general public?
What effect will rising gas prices and environmental concerns do for the PEV market?
Local legislation aimed at cheap gas mini-scooters has severely hurt the growth on mini-electric scooters. Will the trend continue?
How do full size electric scooters compete against gas powered rivals that have greater power, speed, refueling time and significantly cost less than their electric counterparts?
Will the possible reemergence of electric cars help or hinder the electric scooter/bike market?

Will battery technology ever get there, in terms of price, weight, power density, and recharge time?
I have had little else to due over the last year but to ponder the above questions and others. The electric scooter market no longer generates enough quality products to support a testing and reporting service like ESW. We are, in fact, disgusted with the current PEV manufacturers, who are unable to see what type of PEV products will open the US market, or they could careless, since profits can be made selling junk here and in their home markets.
I am thinking perhaps I need to move from being a person who "watches what happens" to a person who "makes things happen". Unless things change dramatically in terms of the emergence of new products, 2007 will be the last year that ESW will be a non-bias, independent testing and reporting service. We will try to bring to market products that we have criticize others for failing to do so. We will walk the walk, and not just talk the talk! Stay tuned!
