Scooter motor question

If one was modding a small scooter, which motor would be better ??

1. 24 volt motor rated at 3500rpm / 35amps
2. 36 volt motor rated at 3500rpm/ 35amps
3. 48 volt motor rated at 3500rpm/ 35amps

Everything else being equal, which one would be better for top speed ?? How about range ??

I know that more current will give you more or faster acceleration, and more voltage will give top speed. What if the the rated RPM is the same ?? Will one motor be faster than the other ??

Scooter motor question

JD,

First, there is nothing equal here; each motor has a different power rating. More power means it will be able to run closer to its top RPM and accelerate faster. If we assume the numbers given are no-load RPMs. We can assume motor number 3 will be faster. We also know motor number 1 will consume the least amount of power and while it may be a little slower than number 2 or 3 the range will be greater. If we assume the motors are designed for the voltage and current given, we can also calculate the power for each motor. The real trade-off with these motors is acceleration versus range. All of this assumes you are using the same amount of battery power measured in watt-hours.

1. 24 volt motor rated at 3500rpm/ 35amps = 840 watts
2. 36 volt motor rated at 3500rpm/ 35amps = 1260 watts
3. 48 volt motor rated at 3500rpm/ 35amps = 1680 watts

I hope this helps answer your question. If not maybe you could give some more information which will help clarify your question.

Ok I am a little confused now

The Badsey supposedly uses a 24 volt 1500watt motor, let us say that there is another motor but rated at 36 volts and 1500watts. Let us pretend that BOTH motors make their rated watts at the SAME amps and same RPM. Is one motor better than the other power-wise or speed -wise ?? Sorry if this has been explained before, just trying to learn.

Example: Badsey's are 24 volt scooters, that supposedly run at 24 volts, but can run about 30MPH and have pretty good range. I know that gearing has a lot to do with it too. So why are not more manufactures using 24 volts and higher wattage motors and making the higher speeds stock ???

RE: Ok I am a little confused now

First of all I don't believe the scenario you describe Let us pretend that BOTH motors make their rated watts at the SAME amps and same RPM. is probable although theoretically possible. To answer your question just based on experience when two motors are closely match, which is what I think you are getting at, the motor with the higher voltage rating will normally out preform the lower voltage motor. I hope this is the question you are asking. I think I was trying to read too much into your first post because it had me intrigued. I have asked a very similar question in the past.
