How to open a crystal hub motor

Here are some pictures that show how this is done. These are not my pictures they were sent to me by a friend. I thought they might help some of the other members.

The Hall sensors are used by

The Hall sensors are used by the controller to get the motor going from a dead stop.

If you ever have an accident, and sever the hall wires, you can still use the motor with a "Pedal First " controller, by getting the motor started manually, the controller can determine what order to fire the coils to get you moving .

Be VERY careful when re-assembling the motor.. the magnets in these motors are strong and when you get within range it will snap together FAST.. do not get your fingers in the way !!!

Welcome, glad to see you found us.

So a E Scooter hub motor won't have Hall sensors?

Peace Out,

The Hall sensor is a "

The Hall sensor is a " Brushless " thing..

Brushed motors do not use.. or need hall sensor wires.. hook them to a power source and away you go ( Only 2 wires.. - and + ).. add a controller and you have throttle control..

Brushless motors require a controller to function, ( 3 phase, or 3 wires for the power ) and in the RC world, there are Sensorless Brushless controllers.. but e-bikes, as far as i know.. need to be Pedal First in order to avoid the Hall sensor.

Can't wait to see what the future brings..
