I think I have one very bad silicone battery in my e-max - the other seven seem to be mostly OK. I have rewired in buddy pairs and installed powercheqs, and the scooter gets about 16 miles before stuttering, but range seems to be slowly degrading. (I got 22-24 miles of range when the pack was brand new).
I have two questions:
1) Would replacing my single bad silicone battery with a standard AGM lead-acid battery such as a BB EB20 work?
2) If I need to replace the whole pack, what would be the best batteries to buy (please provide links to sellers if you can). So far, it seems like the BB EB20's are the best bet for $49 each.
Scrapple,
Conidering that you are using the powercheqs I don't think the batteries have have to be perfectly matched. I would assume you can safely replace just the bad battery with one of similar AH rating, and perhaps it's buddy. I seem to be in a similar situation, with just shy of 3000 miles on my old one, voltage under load starts sagging prematurely.
Where did you find the $49 price for EB20-12's?
You can get them for $50 from ElectricMotorsport, or from Thunderstruck. Disclaimer - I work for EletricMotorsport.

Shipping 120 lbs of lead from California or Utah to Pennsylvania sounds expensive. Anyone know of dealers further east?
Hope this helps:

Thanks!
The battery plus store just a couple miles from my house can get them for 49.95 each - plus 13% shipping - they still have to come from California.
I was warned that there is going to be a price increase on January 15. Anong with other metals, lead prices are going up fast.
