Uploaded on Feb 4, 2009 by Darell Dickey My 1997 EV1. Footage taken in November, 2003 just a week before the car was returned, under duress, to my local Saturn dealer. Soon after, the car was crushed. As you can clearly see, the car deserved a good crushing - for my own good.

A decade ago GM's electric car, the EV1, was a flop in the marketplace. But with gas over four dollars a gallon it would probably attract a lot more attention today.
Back when it was launched, the EV1 was revolutionary. It had a host of innovative features like regenerative braking and light-weight construction. But none of that could stop GM from pulling the plug on the program just a few years ago.

On November 14th 2008 This press conference was held at the very same GM facility where the EV1 Vigil took place during February and March 2005 To Protest against GM's plans to crush and completely destroy & erase any traces that the GM EV1 had ever existed this included making 1,077 GM EV1 Car's completely disappear.

When GM recalled and crushed the EV1 fleet, a few survived and were given to museums and research institutions. However, in every case the EV1's were lobotomized and non-functional. But, intrepid folks managed to resurrect a few of them.
